Zelda Twilight Princess on jailbroken PS5 and on Switch: Dusklight ported natively
2026 update: the same approach now brings Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine and Doom 3 to PS5 in 4K; read on in our news story Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine and Doom 3 in native 4K on jailbroken PS5.
Zelda Twilight Princess runs natively on jailbroken PS5 and on Switch: two ports of Dusklight are out, in 4K on PS5 and at 30 fps on Switch.
Dusklight, a reminder
Dusklight is the PC version of Zelda Twilight Princess, rebuilt from the complete decompilation of the GameCube game by the TwilitRealm team. It is not an emulator: the game is recompiled for the machine. We had covered version 2.0 on PC, with its mods and its randomizer. Its open code now makes it possible to port it elsewhere.
On PS5: in 4K, with the DualSense
On Switch: “Alek’s Ultimate NX Edition”
Good to know
These are two unofficial ports: the TwilitRealm team does not support them, and their authors say they relied heavily on AI. Expect stutters the first time you visit an area, while the shaders compile. No game files are provided: the image must come from your own GameCube disc, dumped for example with a Wii and CleanRip.

On PS5: in 4K, with the DualSense
- PS5_Dusklight, by griches: version 0.1.0 on 10 October 2026, then 0.1.1 the next day, which cleans up the menus (no more “Failed to check for updates” message).
- Rendering goes through the Vulkan driver RADV ported to PS5 by Mihawk. The game has been seen running at 3840×2160 at 60 Hz; the 120 fps claimed on Reddit remain to be confirmed.
- The DualSense works and saves survive a reboot. Sound, rumble and a second controller have not yet been confirmed by the author.
- You need a PS5 that runs homebrew (with Relapse, firmware 7.00 to 13.60), an FTP server on the console, and ShadowMountPlus. The folder PPSA99305 is copied to /data/homebrew/.
- The game image must be in the format .iso or .ciso: RVZ, GCZ, WIA and WBFS are not read.
- Mods that only replace files (textures) work; code mods, including the randomizer, do not.
On Switch: “Alek’s Ultimate NX Edition”
- By Alexgg1014: 1.0.0-beta.1 on 5 October, then beta.2, which fixes a missing folder.
- Goal: 30 fps at the original clock speeds, with three profiles (Quality, Balanced, Performance). The game is displayed in 900p on the TV and in 720p in handheld mode.
- Gyro aiming, and Wii-style Joy-Con motion controls, as options.
- A built-in mod loader provides Randomizer 1.0.6 and Twilit Essentials 2.5.0.
- It accepts ISO, GCM, RVZ, WIA and GCZ formats. You need a Switch running Atmosphère.
