God of War: Ascension (PS3) runs natively on PC
God of War: Ascension (PS3) recompiled into a native PC game from your own disc: 60 fps and up to 4K, but you need a powerful processor.
The last PS3 God of War comes to PC
On October 25, 2026, otavix010 released versions 0.1.0 to 0.1.2 of an unofficial PC port of God of War: Ascension, released on PS3 in 2013. It is a static recompilation with ps3recomp: the code of the main processor (PPU) and that of the coprocessors (SPU) are translated to C/C++ and compiled for the PC, and the RSX's graphics commands are drawn with Direct3D 12. The project's code is licensed under MIT; the README is in Portuguese, with a summary in English.
Nothing from the game is provided: your PC generates and compiles the game from your disc.

Caution
The game boots, its menus and saves work, and both the first level and chapter 16 display correctly, but the game has not yet been checked from start to finish. Stutter on the first visit to each area and rare hangs while loading are known. The author's account is four months old: only download from its GitHub page. To play through emulation, see our RPCS3 tutorial. Other episodes have already been ported: God of War on PS2 and God of War III Remastered.

What the port offers
- 60 fps locked in the two scenes tested on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Above that, the game speeds up, because part of its logic advances with each frame;
- an internal resolution of 720p, 1440p or 4K, VRR (G-SYNC, FreeSync) and borderless full screen;
- sound up to 8 channels and the game's videos.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, a Direct3D 12 graphics card, an AVX2 processor (AVX-512 recommended) and 16 GB of memory;
- your copy of the game, American version BCUS98232 only, as a folder or a decrypted ISO;
- the official 1.04 update and PS3 firmware, which the generator downloads by itself from Sony's servers;
- Python and the Visual Studio 2022 build tools with Clang. Generation takes about 5 minutes on an 8-core processor, much longer on 4 cores.
