Zone of the Enders and Rogue Galaxy native on PC
Zone of the Enders, Rogue Galaxy, Shadow of the Colossus and Twisted Metal Black go native on PC thanks to PS2Recomp, the PS2 game recompiler.
The PS2Recomp wave
PS2Recomp, by ran-j, translates a PS2 game's MIPS code into C++, which is then compiled for PC: the game is no longer emulated instruction by instruction. After God of War and GTA Vice City Stories, other projects released their builds at the end of the month.
Zone of the Enders, fully playable
ZOE-Recompiled, by Yz, came out as 1.0 on 30 October and as 1.0.1 on the 31st, for Windows. Konami's game is playable from the intro to the last area, at a stable 60 fps up to three times the PS2 resolution, in widescreen, with save states and the two-controller Versus mode. It requires the US version (SLUS-20148); a controller is recommended, as keyboard controls are not yet well tuned.
Rogue Galaxy, in preview
Rogue Galaxy Recompiled, by victor-takai, released its 0.1.0 on 27 October: 60 fps, widescreen up to 32:9, resolution up to 8× and an F1 options menu (encounters, experience, shop prices…). Level-5's game has not yet been tested all the way through. An installer downloads about 300 MB of tools and then builds the game from your US disc (SCUS-97490), in 20 minutes to an hour. A Japanese-dubbed version is possible with your own Japanese disc.
Shadow of the Colossus and Twisted Metal Black
With your own disc
None of these projects provides any game files: everything is built from your own disc. The executables are not signed and many of the accounts are recent: only download from the repositories listed in the sources. For the rest of the library, see our PCSX2 tutorial.

Shadow of the Colossus and Twisted Metal Black
- Shadow of the Colossus PC, by GenissonEmilio, targets Linux (glibc 2.39, OpenGL 3.3, 8 GB of memory and 15 GB free): its launcher, in Portuguese, compiles the game on your machine from the US disc (SCUS-97472), with no BIOS. Version 0.2.6 came out on 31 October, with keyboard and mouse support. It relies on Celosia, an in-progress decompilation of the game.
- TMB_Recomp, by boubou666, ports Twisted Metal: Black to Linux and Windows. It is playable at full speed, at 60 fps for the US version and 50 for the European one, but for now it only exists as code to build yourself.
