Project Vekta: Killzone HD running natively on PC
Project Vekta turns the PS3 code of Killzone HD into a native PC program, at 60 frames per second or more. Version 0.1.0 is a pre-release you build yourself.
The first Killzone, without an emulator
Project Vekta, by Gustavo Morinaga (MIT licence), is a static recompilation of Killzone HD, the PS3 remaster of the first Killzone, sold in the Killzone Trilogy. The game's code, written for the PS3's PowerPC and SPU processors, is translated ahead of time into C++ by the ps3recomp tool, then compiled into a Linux or Windows program. The console's libraries are rewritten for PC, and the game's graphics commands are replayed on Vulkan. So it is neither an emulator nor a rewrite: the logic is the original game's own.

Where the port stands
- According to the developer, as of 30 October, level 1 has been played to the end, and all 11 levels load and are playable. Levels 2 to 11 have not all been finished yet.
- 60 frames per second by default, with the game logic running at 60 Hz instead of 30. A 144 Hz mode reaches about 131 to 134 frames per second.
- Stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 sound, widescreen up to 32:9, FSR 1 upscaling, keyboard and mouse, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo controllers.
- Version 0.1.0, released on 31 October, adds the game's MLAA anti-aliasing, recomputed on the graphics card, and NVIDIA Reflex.
What you need
- Your own Killzone Trilogy: the installed Killzone HD package, its decrypted EBOOT and its data, and the libsre library from your own PS3 firmware.
- Linux x64 to build it. The Windows program is cross-built from Linux: the full campaign has not been checked on it yet.
- A CPU with AVX2 and a Vulkan-capable graphics card.
