P.T. ported natively to PC, Linux and Mac, with VR

P.T., Kojima's cult teaser pulled from the PlayStation Store in 2015, now runs natively on PC, Linux and Mac from your own PS4 copy.

The hallway is back

Released on PS4 in 2014, P.T. announced Silent Hills, the Silent Hill game from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro. The project was cancelled, and Konami pulled P.T. from the PlayStation Store in 2015: since then, it only exists on PS4 consoles where it was already installed.

On October 7, 2026, Lorean Xavier, a 21-year-old developer working alone, released a native port on GitHub. It is not an emulator: the game's logic was rewritten in C++ based on how the original behaves, on a custom engine, the Hallway Engine. Frames were compared with those of the PS4 and of the shadPS4 emulator. The author says AI tools helped with coding and debugging. Version 1.0.8, from October 22, mostly fixes crashes.

What you need
  • Your own P.T.: a dump made on your console, or a fake PKG built from that dump. The port reads three files from it (chunk1.psarc, texture.qar and pathid_list_ps4.bin). The store PKG is useless: it is encrypted for the console that downloaded it, and the project does not decrypt it.
  • The US version CUSA01127 is the one used for testing; the European CUSA01114 is accepted, but not checked by the author.
  • Windows 10 or 11, Linux (glibc 2.38 or newer) or macOS 14, with a graphics card supporting Vulkan 1.3.
  • A microphone for one part of the game, as on PS4, or a replacement key to set in the pt.ini file.

Better than on PS4

Resolution and frame rate are no longer capped. The port supports DLSS, FSR 3.1 and 4 and XeSS, frame generation, and ray-traced shadows, reflections and lighting. On top of that come a photo mode, a free camera, a "museum", a speedrun timer and mods. Two modes are still experimental: a third-person view and virtual reality (OpenXR), which the author could only test in simulation, having no headset. On Mac, there is no upscaling, no VR and no ray tracing.

An insulted developer

Success had a downside. On October 21, Lorean Xavier said on Reddit they had been the target of insults, accused of dressing up an emulator; their donation page was suspended. After 1.0.8, updates will be rare. Their next project is already under way: Silent Hill 3, a series already ported natively to 3DS with Silent Hill 2.

What about legality?

The repository contains no game data, and the port does nothing without your copy. P.T. remains Konami's property, and Konami has not reacted publicly so far.
