do we apply the trucha bug steps in the order shown in the tutorial
5. press A (getting IOS15 rev 523)
6. press A (getting IOS15 rev 257)
7. press A for step 1
8. press A for step 2
or step 5 after step 7 and so on

The tools in the packs are indeed not necessarily up to date but they have been tested and validated.
For security reasons, following the procedure lets us rule out the tool used as being the cause when a problem occurs, and by analogy quickly determine the source of an issue, that's all

The 0.30 preloader probably works but out of caution for a first hack I stuck strictly to the recommended versions.
Nothing stops you from doing a 0.30 update afterwards..
(..AFTER A BACKUP of the NAND OF COURSE / CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH TO EVERYONE!)
I had tested the USB Loader GX r877 version in NTFS and it crashed miserably. it's not a big deal but I went safely back to a r814 version in WBFS which works well.
to be retested later..

nothing stops you updating the preloader...
or more simply following the tutorial the wrong way //....
there are several ways to hack your wii... (this one has proven itself!)
there are lots of people who brick their wii while writing:
"I followed your tutorial... and I don't have a nand backup"
I don't know what to reply besides the wonderful "oh really...

you followed my tutorial?!"

hi everyone!

first of all thanks a lot for all the work you do!

after following other tutorials to hack my wii (black, 4.2E) which didn't succeed because they weren't detailed enough, I followed this one and it went smooth as silk (or as a parcel, let's say), it's really super simple and very well explained! bravo!

so as I'm a novice (I'd never cracked anything before) I didn't really understand what I was doing (well, a bit overall) and so I'm left a little unsatisfied...
would you maybe have a link, on tgames itself, where I could understand in detail how the wii and the hack work?
I admit I'm a bit lost in the ios stories...

I repeat for future hackers that this tutorial is complete and easy! I followed everything slowly and in the end everything works, I installed hackmii, hb, the trucha exploit and all the necessary logs for the hack and now I play games from my external hd via the wiiflow channel (open wiiflow)

I still have a lot to learn but now I know where to look to hack!!

you need a wii, an SD card... (normal)
and a brain (even more normal)...

and no game at all!!!
