Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts runs natively on PC and Switch
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, an Xbox 360 exclusive, runs natively on PC with reNut, and now on Switch with renut-nx, from your own disc.
reNut, the PC version
reNut, by masterspike52, recompiles Rare's 2008 game with the ReXGlue SDK: the Xbox 360's PowerPC code is translated into a Windows or Linux program. The project has been around since the start of the year, and its latest releases, "beta-nut 15" and an easier-to-install version, came out on 31 October.
renut-nx, the Switch version
renut-nx, by ChanseyIsTheBest, ports reNut to the Switch as homebrew, with its author's approval. Version 1.0.0 arrived on 1 November, 1.0.1 on 2 November with a language option, including French. Rendering goes through deko3d, the Switch's own graphics API, with dynamic resolution (540p to 720p in handheld mode, up to 1080p on a TV), and downloadable content is supported.
Installation is done through a web page that builds the package in your browser, without uploading anything, from your disc image and the game's Title Update 3. The first run compiles the shaders and takes a while. You need a Switch running Atmosphère, and the Sphaira launcher to create a shortcut that gives the game all four CPU cores.
What you need
Both projects require your own US disc of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts and its Title Update 3, dumped from your Xbox 360. No game files are provided. Only download from the repositories listed in the sources.

- Native rendering: the game's graphics calls go straight to the graphics card, in 4K and in widescreen, with improved shadows and anisotropic filtering.
- The online mode is back thanks to RexLiveless: matchmaking, leaderboards and private lobbies with friends, with a menu inspired by the Xbox 360's.
- Mods from the NB-Studio editor and custom parts.
- (beta-nut 15) A flag editor on F5 and crash reports sent to the Sentry service.
