Perfect Dark recompiled natively for PC, in 4K at 60 fps

The Xbox Live Arcade remaster of Perfect Dark runs natively on PC thanks to ReXGlue: 4K at 60 fps, keyboard and mouse, and network matches with up to eight players.

The 2010 remaster, on PC

In 2010, Rare and 4J Studios remade Perfect Dark, the Nintendo 64 shooter, for Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360. Perfect Dark XBLA PC Recomp, by CaiusCodes, turns it into a native Windows program through static recompilation, with ReXGlue. The first public release, 0.9.0, came out on October 28.

What it brings
  • Up to 4K: rendering at 1×, 2× or 3× the Xbox 360's 1280 × 720 resolution, with optional AMD FSR 1 or CAS.
  • 60 fps locked, the game's frame rate, using Direct3D 12 on NVIDIA cards and Vulkan on AMD and Intel.
  • Raw-input keyboard and mouse, remappable keys, and Xbox controller.
  • Multiplayer over local network or virtual network (Radmin VPN, ZeroTier, Tailscale, Hamachi) for up to 8 players, 12 with bots, plus two-player co-op and counter-op.
  • Achievements and leaderboards stored on the PC, and optionally all cheats and multiplayer content unlocked.
Bugs from the original version are fixed: the game clock ran 2% too fast, sun glare shone through walls, and unlit rooms turned completely black. Xbox Live leftovers, such as gamer cards and dead buttons, are removed.

What you need

64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a processor with AVX2 (Intel Haswell, AMD Ryzen or newer), a DirectX 12 or Vulkan graphics card, and the Xbox Live Arcade package of your own game (ID 584109C2). The program reads this package only once to import the data; it downloads nothing and does not contact Xbox Live. For other Xbox 360 games on jailbroken PS5, see PS5x360.
