Smash Bros. for Wii U recompiled natively for PC

By Tgames · · 1 min read

After Brawl and Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U runs natively on PC: up to 5K, 120 fps, eight players locally and online on Pretendo.

The Wii U Smash, without Cemu

After Brawl and Ultimate, it is now the Wii U Smash's turn to go native on PC. Smash 4 PC, by josiahg2502-glitch (MIT license), translates the game's PowerPC code into C++ ahead of time. It runs it on a reimplementation of the Wii U system, with graphics commands and shaders translated to Vulkan. The project relies on the recompiler and Wii U system written by Petexy for Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

What it offers
  • The game with its update v304 (all fighters and all stages), or the original version, and your DLC.
  • Native rendering up to 4K and 5K, fullscreen or windowed.
  • 60 fps, 120 fps or unlimited: above 60, frames are interpolated, while the game itself stays at 60.
  • 8-player Smash locally, with XInput, PlayStation, Switch Pro controllers and the keyboard.
  • Online play on Pretendo Network, the service that replaces Nintendo's shut-down servers.
  • Sm4shExplorer and SDCafiine mods, and Cemu graphics packs, installable from the launcher.
Version 0.1.0 came out on October 25, and 0.1.1 on the 29th, with networked game lobbies in beta, support for older processors and smoother output.

What you need

64-bit Windows 10 or 11, a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card, and the folders of the game (US version), its update and its DLC, dumped from your own Wii U with Dumpling. Online play also requires your console's files and your Pretendo account. No game files are provided.
