Pikmin 1 and 2 running natively on PC, Linux and Android

Open Nectar runs Pikmin and Pikmin 2 natively on PC, Linux and Android, without Dolphin. Version 1.1.1 adds the controls from the Switch version.

Two GameCube games without an emulator

Open Nectar, by SSunnKing, builds on the decompilations of Pikmin and Pikmin 2 from the projectPiki project: the games' code runs directly on the machine, and the GameCube's graphics calls (GX) are translated to OpenGL. A single launcher, and a single APK on Android, run both games.
  • Pikmin 2 is playable from start to finish, with the US and European discs.
  • Pikmin 1 is playable through most of the game, with a local two-player co-op mode (Olimar and Louie) in split screen.
  • 30, 60 or 120 fps, widescreen, HD texture packs, a randomizer and a speedrun mode.
  • The European disc installs five languages, including French.

The latest versions

Version 1.1 (October 26) imports saves from Dolphin and from GameCube memory cards, in.gci format, after backing up the current save. On Android, the data moves to an open folder, “OpenNectar”. Version 1.1.1 (October 29) offers the control layout of the Switch versions, aiming with the right stick, the mouse in Pikmin 1's menus and much lighter rendering. Before that, 1.0.9 had added a model creator and campaigns in the map editor.

What you need
  • Windows 64-bit with an OpenGL 3.3 driver, or Linux (AppImage), and about 1 GB of free space.
  • Android 10 or newer, on a 64-bit device with OpenGL ES 3.0.
  • The image of your own disc: Pikmin USA revision 1 (GPIE01), Pikmin Europe (GPIP01), Pikmin 2 USA (GPVE01) or Europe (GPVP01). ISO and GCM work directly; RVZ requires the DolphinTool utility.
The author says they used the AI Claude, and that they review and test the code. To play the rest of the GameCube library, see our Dolphin tutorial.
