GTA IV and its two episodes native on a jailbroken PS5

GTA IV for PS5 runs GTA IV, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony natively on a jailbroken PS5, in 4K at 60 fps, with trophies and DualSense.


A port of the Xbox 360 version

GTA IV for PS5, by elripalda, was released as version 1.0 on 21 October 2026, followed by 1.0.1 on the 22nd. This is not emulation: the Xbox 360 game has been recompiled into a native program. The port starts from Liberty Recompiled, OZORDI's recompilation of GTA IV, and from vaduur's Android fork of it, with the recompiler ReXGlue underneath. The PS5 Vulkan driver is PS5_Mesa, by mihawk-99. The author gives them all the credit.


What it brings

• GTA IV and both Episodes from Liberty City, gathered in a home menu;
• 4K capped at 60 fps: most of the city holds 60, the busiest streets drop to around 45 to 55;
• 120 Hz and VRR, plus a 40 fps mode for 120 Hz TVs;
• the DualSense: a light bar in police colours when you're wanted, adaptive triggers and rumble;
• the trophies, importing your Xbox 360 saves, and backing up and restoring your games;
• full graphics settings, including FusionFix's enhanced effects, and the game in French among five languages.

Version 1.0.1 adds three presets, all at 60 fps: Recommended (4K), Performance (1440p, fewer cars and pedestrians) and Quality. It also finally starts the game picked on the home screen, not the last episode saved.


What you need

• a jailbroken PS5 that runs homebrew from /data/homebrew/;
• your own US Xbox 360 copy of GTA IV as an ISO image, with its Title Update 8. Only this version is supported, and no game files are included;
• for the episodes, their package copied from your own Xbox 360;
• about 17 GB of free space.

The easiest way is through the Recomp Store, which installs the app and fetches Title Update 8. Otherwise, copy the PPSA94004 folder to /data/homebrew/, put the ISO and the update in its install folder, and start the installation. With a payload loader running (etaHEN, elfldr), it goes much faster. Version 1.1 aims for a locked 60 fps in the busy streets.
