Nezumiiruka 1.0: the Dolphin emulator on Switch, GameCube and Wii

By Tgames · · 2 min read

Nezumiiruka 1.0 ports the Dolphin emulator to Switch with a Deko3D renderer: Melee and Luigi’s Mansion at full speed, Wii with a heavy overclock.

Dolphin, native on Switch

Released on 19 October 2026 after two release candidates, Nezumiiruka 1.0.0 is a port of Dolphin 2609, the GameCube and Wii emulator, for the Switch running Atmosphère. Its author wrote a Deko3D renderer for it (Deko3D being the Switch’s own graphics API), and a recompiler optimized for the console. A Vulkan version also exists, but it is slower: it is only meant as a fallback, if a game does not work with Deko3D.

Performance

According to the author, the goal is full speed in most GameCube games, at stock clock speeds in handheld mode:
  • Luigi’s Mansion and Super Smash Bros. Melee already reach it;
  • most other GameCube games run at 85 to 90% of normal speed (the README mentions around 80% for many 3D games, limited by the CPU);
  • many Wii games are playable with a heavy overclock, from 1785 MHz.

Features
  • Everything Dolphin does, except netplay: RetroAchievements, Riivolution, cheat codes (downloaded automatically), WiiLink for the Weather Channel, GBA link cable.
  • GameCube controllers through the Wii U adapter, and the touchscreen as a Wiimote pointer.
  • Games on SD card or on a USB drive (NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, ext4), in ISO, GCM, RVZ (recommended), WBFS, CISO, GCZ and WAD formats.
  • Lossless Scaling frame generation, with your own copy of the Lossless.dll file bought on Steam, and a GPU overclock.
  • Built-in automatic updates.

Good to know

Save states and shader caches are not compatible with Dolphin on PC. The repository still has the name “Porpoise” in its description: it has nothing to do with the PS5’s Porpoise. Use your own games: to dump them from your discs, see our tutorial on managing Wii games. On PC, the original is set up with our Dolphin tutorial, and other Switch apps are in our selection of Switch homebrews.
