Switch 2 jailbreak: beware of fake tools on GitHub
A fake "CFW activator" for the Switch 2 is climbing on GitHub. Yet no custom firmware exists: here is how to spot these traps.
A repository that ticks every box
Since the release of ns2jb, searches for "Switch 2 jailbreak" have exploded, and scams follow. A typical example: a repository called switch2-bootstrapper, opened on October 26, 2026, which already has more than 120 stars on GitHub but no forks at all: the sign of bought stars, not of a community. We deliberately do not link to it.
It presents itself as "the official" USB-C utility for activating custom firmware. Yet:
What really exists
Good habits
Be wary of any repository without code, any command to paste into a terminal, password-protected archives and requests to turn off your antivirus. When in doubt, ask in the Switch & Wii U Questions/Help section before running anything.

We deliberately do not link to it.
It presents itself as "the official" USB-C utility for activating custom firmware. Yet:
- the repository contains no code: only a README, a licence and an empty file;
- it asks you to copy a PowerShell command that downloads a script hosted elsewhere, "because GitHub's scanners block scripts";
- it calls antivirus alerts "false positives" in advance and claims to be "100% safe";
- it promises to "bypass signature checks" on every firmware, with an automatic NAND backup;
- it ends with a list of keywords for search engines.
What really exists
- There is no CFW for the Switch 2, and no "one-click" tool.
- The only public jailbreak is ns2jb, by pepsipu, published on GitLab (not on GitHub) on October 21. It requires firmware 23.0.1, the game SmileBASIC 4 and a computer connected to the console, stays in userland and disappears on every reboot. How it works is detailed in our explanation of the exploit.
- Reworked copies of ns2jb are also going around: always prefer the original repository.
