AnyPS5: the tool that ports PS5 games to PC translates 100% of shaders

By Tgames · · 1 min read

AnyPS5, which converts PS5 games into native programs for Windows and Linux, now recognises all 1,166 shader instructions of the console’s GPU.

Not an emulator

AnyPS5, by boykopovar, does not simulate the console. A “relinker” turns a PS5 game’s executable into a Windows or Linux program, and the project rewrites the PS5’s system libraries so that it can run. It is a different approach from that of SharpEmu or KytyPS5, covered in our overview of PS5 emulation. The code is open source (GPL-2.0).

The 100% milestone

On 9 October 2026, the project reached 100% of the 1,166 shader instructions listed for the PS5’s GPU, a derivative of AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture. Shaders are translated into SPIR-V, Vulkan’s format. But “recognised” does not mean “executed without errors in every game”. The system libraries, for their part, stand at 85.78% of the functions known to the project, and that total grows as new ones are discovered.

What actually runs
  • Dreaming Sarah, a 2D platformer: playable, at 60 fps on a GTX 1050 Ti with an i5-7500, and 36 fps with an Intel HD 620 graphics chip.
  • DOOM, in its homebrew version for PS5: in-game, on Windows, and on Linux with software rendering.
That’s it for the verified list. No big 3D game runs yet: there is still a long way to go. The latest released version is 0.1.1, from 28 September; work has continued in the code since then.

What you need to try it

AnyPS5 provides no games, firmware or keys. It works on decrypted executables, which in practice means dumping them from your own games on a jailbroken PS5. Beware of sites promising a ready-to-use “PS5 emulator”: they are scams.
