OpenGoldHEN: an AI-made “open source” copy of GoldHEN angers the PS4 scene
A GitHub repository publishes OpenGoldHEN, a “free” copy of GoldHEN reconstructed with AI, without its author's consent: the PS4 scene is up in arms.
What happened
GoldHEN, by SiSTR0, has been the cornerstone of the PS4 jailbreak for years. Its code is closed, due to a “sad abuse” of the source code in the past, as its readme states. In early October 2026, a repository named OpenGoldHEN appeared on GitHub, presented as a reconstructed open version, with a manifesto-style readme (“creativity should never have to ask for permission”). Kotaku reported on 7 October that this reconstruction was made with the help of AI and defended in the name of free speech.
What we don't know
Our advice
Do not install any “GoldHEN” that comes from anywhere other than its official repository: a tool with full access to the console's kernel must come from a trusted source. Everything is explained in our GoldHEN tutorial. This affair adds to the debate on AI in the scene, sparked in recent weeks by the Banjo-Tooie port.

What we don't know
- Whether the code works, compiles, and for which firmwares: the repository offers no release to download.
- The reaction of SiSTR0 and the GoldHEN team.
- A possible takedown request.
