@Arasium: Excellent explanations, very clear.
I won't use SciiFii either, while waiting for the sources: I'm too cautious and I don't like this feeling of not being in control.
We see so many code errors from certain 'devs'.
Thanks for the XML, you can clearly see the process and the possible changes.

hello everyone well I'm going to try the software let's not forget that people rack their brains to make things easier for us, I have two wii to flash but here are my questions is the software compatible with wii in 3.4 and 4.1 updated on the nintendo server? I think the software is going to restore the trucha exploit?
I heard that you should absolutely not downgrade the firmware from 4.2, is that the case for a wii in 4.1? How do you know if our wii has stubs? Might SCIIFII V3 install any? And finally what's the difference between sciifii v3 and pimp my wii?

So, sciifii won't downgrade your firmware: too dangerous
Sciifii does restore the trucha exploit, yes. But we theoretically plug it back up afterward so as not to modify anything on the wii.
Compatible with any wii and any region.
With standard modes, sciifii will handle the stubs if needed (like removing the 249) and will only install them in unhack mode.

ah so you mean in version 4.1 (nintendo server update) the stubs are already present?
I thought the stubs were only present on wii in 4.2?
Which mode should I choose then for the wii in 3.4 and the 4.1 (full with wiiflow)

hello everyone....I admit I've just created an account on Tgames even though I stop by regularly to see what's going on....
second admission...I'm the community manager on wiigen...and coming across this sciifii v3 news I just wanted to bring my experience of this homebrew which I think can help understand certain things because you've only had my dear arasium's version, who's struggling all alone to be understood...I want to clarify that I'm not here to poison the topic and therefore I'll remain courteous throughout my post....

to start I just want to say that I completely agree with all the members who don't like not knowing what they're doing....personally I hacked my wii the old way like a lot of people with TBR and all the rest....
now I just want to add that it's been quite a while since I've been helping actively and regularly on wiigen...arasium can confirm it and I can even tell you that I was present for 2 of the 3 bricks that happened because of v2....everyone was surprised because it wasn't a common occurrence....at worst a few errors due to the connection or the sd or even missing .wad but nothing more...

on top of that a lot of members at the end of their rope came to see us begging because nothing worked anymore because they had used pimp my wii thanks to tutorials from sites I won't name....and thanks to sciifii (I'm talking about v2)... by doing an unhack then an advanced setting they ended up with a fully functional wii, without freaking out about frying it every time a line appeared...and cases like that happen every day on wiigen...

I myself who hack wiis regularly...I use sciifii and I'm really not ashamed of it, far from it...I think it's easy to criticize without trying...sciifii is an installer of the same type as pimp my wii and in my opinion much clearer than the latter....sorry but test and fix problems or minimal install aren't very clear modes for everyone....

to conclude I'd say that sciifii is the perfect utility for having a clean and functional hack...after using it no need to update any ios with pimp my wii to launch a game...sciifii does everything all by itself...some will say I like to be in control...well v3 and its configurable .xml are here for that....and we need to stop with the brick rumors going around like that just because certain people have a grudge against wiigen...at some point you have to separate a website you don't like (that's your personal opinion) from the work of a group of people that shouldn't be denigrated because of biased judgment or old grudges...

I'll end this post with a huge big up to the wiigen team and its work but also to T games and its members whom I particularly like despite everything...

I just got a wii in 4.2 I installed the homebrew channel with the banner bomb now if I launch sciifii v3 will the wii be flashed so I can play games from hdd? THEN A WEIRD THING the wii is in 4.2 and bootmii can be installed in boot 2 mode, I thought that was impossible

great tool I flashed the wii that was in 4.2 then I put in ciosx19 waninikoko, small question does cios 19 waninikoko overwrite the ios 249 stub? Or did sciifiiv3 already do it?
And is sciifii capable of installing the 222 223 224 cios from hermes? I don't know if they're present on the console GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

well yes I ran the program without understanding what I was doing because on the first page of this topic it says that sciifii is used to flash without understanding anything, that's why I asked does sciifii v3 install cios 222 223 224? and how do you know if the ios 249 stub has been overwritten by cios 249 rev 19 waninkoko?
I wasn't scared because I have bootmii in boot 2

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NOT TO LIKE SCIIFII V3 but I like it, I flashed the wii in 4.2 in 5 minutes keep learning your cios by heart and don't forget to review next week because big N is waiting for you around the corner, as for me I prefer using reliable tools like sciifii v3 or pimps my wii. Take note

1. cIOS are updated at most once a month = the scene doesn't move that fast.
2. We also have a life.
3. Nintendo's updates are countered very quickly.
4. According to WiiGen, you can't install Hermes' cIOS with the default configuration.
