[TUTORIAL] HACK Wii 3.0E to 4.1E

If I understood correctly, I install bootmii in ios and I could have a backup of my nand but on the other hand if the console gets bricked, will I be able to do a restore?

about the tuto, I understood up to the hermes cios but for the priloader and wiiflow, I still don't understand their purpose and I didn't get how to install the priiloader, there's no link to download it.

unfortunately you can't debrick with bootmii in ios but what it does is already good.

wiiflow is a usbloader that lets you launch backup isos stored on an external USB HDD.

with the new wiis, wiiflow is the only possible way to launch backups but it's also the most practical and wiiflow is so beautiful

malheureusement on ne peux pas débricker avec bootmii en ios mais ce qu'il fait c'est déjà bien.

wiiflow est un usbloader qui permet de lancer des backup iso placé sur un HDD externe en USB.

Thanks for your answers but you still haven't told me what the priiloader is for.

If I install the bootmi in ios and I can't debrick it in case of a problem, so I'm afraid to hack my wii. Is there a less risky solution? Can we have the bootmi in boot2?

With the boot mi in ios, it asks you to insert an sd card so that means it will back up the nand but what use will it be in case of a brick?

The backup of your nand won't happen by itself. you have to do it as described above. And once again even if bootmii in ios + nand save + priiloader isn't perfect and complete, it still allows saving certain bricks and it's better than nothing.

Up to you to decide but with this tuto the risks are very limited.

La sauvegarde de ta nand va pas se faire toute seul. tu dois faire comme décrit plus haut. Et une fois de plus même si bootmii en ios + save de nand + priiloader n'est pas parfait et complet, cela permets quand même de sauvé certain brick et c'est mieux que rien.

As toi de voir mais avec ce tuto les risques sont très limité.

I followed the tuto and I managed to go from version 3.4 to 4.1 with pimpmywii. I have 2 remarks to make:

1) the tuto for installing the rev17 cios by waninkoko isn't very detailed for a beginner.
I searched and found this small more complete tuto:

Download the cIOS38_rev17_Installer
24) Extract the archive and rename the DOL file to boot.dol.
25) Place it on the SD as SD:/apps/cIOS38rev17/boot.dol.
26) Go to the HBC and launch the cIOS38rev17_installer.
27) Choose «IOS236», press "A" once, then a second time.
28) Choose «Network Installation» (if you don't have internet, choose «WAD Installation»)

2) installing the hermès cios: I didn't manage to install it without internet
I put hermès's cios installer in the apps folder
then I downloaded the ios (not specified in the tuto)
# IOS -> IOS 37 -> v3869 folder 0000000100000025
# IOS -> IOS 38 -> v3867 folder 0000000100000026
# IOS -> IOS 57 -> v5661 folder 0000000100000039
# IOS -> IOS 60 -> v6174 folder 000000010000003C
I put these folders at the root

I launched the hermes cios via the HBC and when I wanted to install e.g. cios 222, it goes online.

I don't know what to do anymore. Help, help

J'ai suivi le tuto et je suis arrivé à passer de la version 3.4 à 4.1 avec pimpmywii . J'ai 2 remarques à faire :

1) le tuto pour l'installation du cios rev17 de waninkoko n'est pas très détaillé pour un novice.
J'ai cherché et j'ai trouvé ce petit tuto plus complet :

Téléchargez le cIOS38_rev17_Installer
24) Décompressez l'archive et renommez le fichier DOL en boot.dol.

for HBC upside down, relaunch hackmii installer to uninstall and reinstall HBC.

you didn't install bannerbomb... you used bannerbomb to install hbc. If you relaunch hackmii installer and it refuses to install HBC, you have to launch wad manager 1.4 instead, you select ios 36 then SD slot then you install ios34: (to put in SD:/wad)

you relaunch hackmii installer to reinstall HBC

tu n'as pas installer bannerbomb... tu as utilisé bannerbomb pour installer hbc. Si tu relance hackmii installer et qu'il te refuse l'installation de HBC, tu dois lancer wad manager 1.4 à la place, tu sélectionne l'ios 36 puis SD slot puis tu installer l'ios34 : (à mettre dans SD:/wad)

tu relance hackmii installer pour ré installer HBC

I installed the HBC and everything went back right side up.
Also I went to the link you gave and I finally managed to install the hermes cios. Apparently with v4, you can't do the offline installation.

well precisely, you replace the boot.dol of hackmii installer (keep it aside) that you have at the root of your SD with the one from wad manager and you use bnnerbomb to launch it.

ben justement, tu remplace le boot.dol de hackmii installer (garde le de côté) que tu as à la racine de ta SD par celui de wad manager et tu utilise bnnerbomb pour le lancer.

relaunch wad manager, select ios36 and try again to install the iso I gave you. if you still get the ret=-1035 error try selecting iso 249 and 15.

relance wad manager, sélectionne l'ios36 et réessaye d'installer l'iso que je t'ai donné. si tu as toujours l'erreur ret=-1035 essaye en sélectionnant l'iso 249 et 15.
