1. yes if you have a cioscorp (wii compatible) or a chip or original dvds
2. yes, has nothing to do with the firmware. but it's possible that only the ios installation will be offered to you. that's better than nothing. nand backup essential.
3. There's always some risk. we can't really answer that.
4. no gamecube games on hdd

cIOScorp doesn't let you play games on hdd anyway. But with rev14 and wiiflow yes

well to play games on a burned dvd through the disc channel like originals

still needs a compatible wii though
