Def Jam: Fight for NY native on PC, Mac and Linux
Def Jam: Fight for NY Recompiled reaches 1.1: the Xbox fighting game runs natively at 60 fps, with your own music and a restored 2Pac track.
The cult fighting game hits version 1.0
Developer vyanhursky released on November 6, 2026 version 1.0 of Def Jam: Fight for NY Recompiled, followed by 1.1 on November 8. It is an unofficial port of EA's fighting game (2004), recompiled from the Xbox version with xboxrecomp, sp00nz's toolchain. The game runs natively on Windows (Direct3D 11), on Apple Silicon Macs and on Linux (Vulkan), Steam Deck included. The project's code is licensed under MIT.
The app contains no game files and no game executable: it checks your copy and compiles the game on your computer.

The author says they work with help from Claude Code and Codex. The programs are not signed: download them only from the project's GitHub page, where each file has its SHA-256 hash. To play through emulation, see xemu. Other Xbox games have already been recompiled: Conker: Live & Reloaded and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2X.
