Conker: Live & Reloaded runs natively on PC, up to 240 fps

Conker: Live & Reloaded, never released on PC, now runs natively there thanks to three recompilation projects of the Xbox game, at up to 240 fps and with online play between friends.

Rare's squirrel, without an emulator

The remake of Conker's Bad Fur Day, released on the original Xbox in 2005, is coming natively to PC. All three projects rely on static recompilation: the game's x86 code is translated into a Windows or Linux program, and the Xbox libraries are rewritten, instead of emulating the console. None of them provides any game files.

Live & Recompiled, the base port

Live & Recompiled, by giacomozama, builds on a heavily modified version of TGP482's Xbox XBE Recomp. Released as 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 on 28 October for Windows and Linux, it offers 60, 120, 180 or 240 fps, all aspect ratios, anti-aliasing, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch controllers, keyboard and mouse, and skippable cutscenes. The story can be played from start to finish. It accepts the US disc and the version sold on the Microsoft Store (Xbox backward compatibility), still on sale. The repository warns that all of its code was generated by an AI without line-by-line review.

Recomped & Reloaded, with online play

Conker: Recomped & Reloaded, by Mabec Games (GPL-3.0 licence), is a launcher and a modified version of the previous port: 1.0 on 31 October, 1.1 on 1 November. It builds the game on your PC, offline, from your US disc, and adds:
  • an online mode with a six-word lobby code, no IP address to enter;
  • four-player split screen on one PC;
  • up to 400% internal resolution, 8× MSAA, SMAA and ambient occlusion;
  • per-pixel lighting, softer fur and detailed grass in the distance;
  • (1.1) an option that keeps the game logic at 30 fps while displaying 60 or 120 fps, to avoid frame-rate-related bugs.
An optional mod removes the censorship added on Xbox.

Live & Recompiled by cdetv, for Windows

A third project, Conker: Live & Recompiled by cdetv, is an independent port for Windows (Direct3D 11), released as 0.1.0 on 30 October and as 0.1.4 on 2 November. It accepts the European and US versions, and adds a photo mode, a fix for late scenery pop-in and fine-grained image settings. It too was largely written by an AI.

With your own copy

You need your own copy of the Xbox game (disc or Microsoft Store version depending on the project). The executables are not signed: only download them from the repositories listed in the sources.
