God of War Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta on PC

gow-psp-recomp 1.5 recompiles God of War: Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta into native PC games from your UMDs: 4K, HDR and over 60 fps.

The PSP God of War games without an emulator

Developer DrummingBird1, already behind the Sonic 06 port, released on November 7, 2026 version 1.5.0 of gow-psp-recomp. This unofficial PC port covers both PSP episodes of the series, God of War: Chains of Olympus and God of War: Ghost of Sparta, made by static recompilation: the game's MIPS code is decrypted from your disc, and every function is translated to C and then compiled for Windows. The program replaces the PSP's system and hardware, and redraws the picture on the PC's graphics card. The code is licensed under GPL-3.0.
Nothing from the game is provided: the launcher compiles the game on your PC, from your own disc images.

What the port offers
  • an internal resolution up to 4K and beyond, MSAA, HDR10, and 60, 120 or 144 fps and more;
  • 21:9, 32:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios, and a CRT filter;
  • keyboard, mouse and controllers, rumble, and dodging on the right stick;
  • import of PPSSPP saves, and Ghost of Sparta in English, French or Spanish.
Version 1.5.0 mostly fixes bugs: numeric keypad, build failure, mouse cursor, freeze logging.

What you need
  • Windows only for now (Linux and Steam Deck are planned);
  • your UMDs as.iso or.chd, in the US version only: UCUS98653 for Chains of Olympus, UCUS98737 for Ghost of Sparta;
  • about 246 MB of build tools, downloaded once by the launcher. The first build takes about 4 minutes.

Be careful

Every level of both games loads, and sound, movies and saves work, but neither game has been played through from start to finish: bugs are still possible late in a game. Two reported freezes are still being investigated: after the Persian King's death, and endless waves of enemies in the Vortex. The launcher is unsigned and built with PyInstaller, which some antivirus programs wrongly flag: download it only from the project's GitHub page and compare its SHA-256 hash with the one in the README. To play through emulation, see our PPSSPP tutorial. The first God of War on PS2 also has its native port.
