Smash Bros. Brawl recompiled natively on PC

By Tgames · · 1 min read

Super Smash Bros. Brawl becomes a native Windows and Linux program, up to 4K, with Project+ and online play between players of the project.

Brawl Recompiled

The Brawl Recompiled repository, by JosiahG, has been open since October 22, 2026. It translates the Wii game's PowerPC code (the main program and its 126 modules) into C++ with the WiiCompiled tool: the game runs as a Windows program, with no emulator. Releases keep coming: 0.4.0 added online play on October 24, and 0.5.0 from October 29 goes up to 240 frames per second.

What it brings
  • Up to 4K, the game's own 16:9 mode and an ultrawide mode;
  • 120 fps frame interpolation, without changing the game's speed;
  • every controller seen as a GameCube controller, the keyboard, and even real Wii Remotes over Bluetooth;
  • a virtual SD card for mods: Project+, Project+Ex, REX, Brawl Minus and Legacy XP load as they do on a Wii, with Gecko codes;
  • native online play between Brawl Recompiled players;
  • import of your Wii or Dolphin saves.

What you need, and what is missing

You need your own US disc (RSBE01) as an ISO, CISO or WBFS image; a launcher installs the game from that image. The project is still a work in progress: boot, the menus tested, VS battles, the start of Classic mode and the opening of the Subspace Emissary work, while the rest has not been validated yet. Its online play does not mix with Dolphin's.

No game files are included. After Melee, it is now the Wii instalment's turn to leave emulation behind.
