M33: the PSP emulator PPSSPP comes to jailbroken PS4
M33 ports the PSP emulator PPSSPP to jailbroken PS4: games in 1080p, the real PSP XMB, rewind, save states and RetroAchievements.
The PSP on PS4
M33 (or March33) turns PPSSPP into a PS4 app that launches from the home screen and plays with the DualShock 4. The first version, 1.00, was released on 18 October 2026; four more have followed, up to 1.04 on 20 October. PPSSPP's JIT translates the PSP's MIPS code into x86-64 code for the PS4's processor, and rendering goes through Vulkan, with Mesa's RADV driver adapted for the console's AMD GPU.
What it brings
The first games tested
On a launch PS4, the team tested GTA: Liberty City Stories (30 fps, its normal frame rate, with a few stutters), God of War: Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus, LittleBigPlanet and SSX on Tour. “60 FPS” cheat codes double the speed of the game itself, and the PS4 generally can't keep up: frame generation is the better option. On PS4 Pro, Boost Mode helps in busy scenes.
Installation
You need a PS4 jailbroken with GoldHEN (see which exploit for your firmware) and FTP access. The M33 package installs with GoldHEN's Package Installer, then your games go in /data/March33/games/ (.iso,.cso or.chd). Nothing is provided, neither games nor firmware: use copies of your own UMDs. The code is open source (GPL 2.0, like PPSSPP). On PC and phones, see our PPSSPP tutorial.

What it brings
- Rendering at 4x (1920x1088) with AMD's FSR RCAS sharpening.
- The real XMB of the PSP, with the game boot animation, if you install PSP firmware 6.61: M33 downloads it from Sony, with one button.
- A quick menu (L3 + R3): save states with screenshots, CWCheat codes, volume, resolution, fps counter.
- The rewind feature by holding L2, and fast-forward with R2.
- Experimental frame generation (disabled by default) that displays a 30 fps game at 60 fps.
- RetroAchievements, and menus in 13 languages, including French.
