PS5SX2 2.15: your PS2 games get their own PS5 home screen tile

By Tgames · · 2 min read

The jailbroken PS5's PS2 emulator reaches 2.15: a tile per game on the home screen, less stutter from discs and 192 HD texture packs.

One tile per game

PS5SX2, the PCSX2 port for jailbroken PS5, releases version 2.15 on 19 October 2026. It brings together the test builds released since 2.10, five days earlier. The most visible new feature: each game can have its own tile on the home screen of the PS5. On the shelf, press Square then "Home screen tile", and the game then launches straight from the home screen. The feature is disabled by default: you need to create an empty file /data/PCSX2/flags/gametiles and restart the console.

Other new features
  • Less stutter with discs: the game no longer waits for the drive, which reads ahead, and the PS5's drive spins at 3.2x.
  • 192 HD texture packs added: the shelf now offers 228 for 223 games.
  • Full covers: back (the right stick flips the case), spine and disc art.
  • A search in the shelf with R2.
  • Frame generation can once again switch the TV to 120 Hz, to display a 60 fps game at 120. It remains disabled by default.
  • Copying a disc resumes where it left off.
L1 + R1 + touchpad returns to the shelf, and the disc helper no longer causes a kernel panic on shutdown for the tester who had one.

Installation and updating

The PS5SX2Installer.elf installer, the same as for 2.00 and 2.10, installs this version and later ones. To do it by hand, just replace eboot.bin and param.json in /data/homebrew/PPSA99203: keep the /data/PCSX2 folder, which holds your settings, memory cards and save states. For discs, the helper loads after ShadowMountPlus, every time the console restarts.
You need the BIOS from your own PS2 and your own discs. We covered the early days of disc playback in our news on PS5SX2 2.02. On the PC side, a free PS2 BIOS is in the works: see our news on OpenPS2BIOS and its limits.
