Playden 0.5: your Steam games and Cyberpunk 2077 on a jailbroken PS5

By Tgames · · 2 min read

Playden downloads the Windows games from your Steam library and runs them on a jailbroken PS5 thanks to Wine. Version 0.5 adds Direct3D 12 and Cyberpunk 2077.

PC games on PS5, for real

A few days ago, PC games on PS5 were shown in a demo, with nothing to download. Playden is now out: it is an app for jailbroken PS5 that connects to your Steam account, displays your library, downloads games using your licenses and runs them. Windows games go through prospero-win, a port of Wine to PS5. Each game gets its own Windows environment and its own tile on the home screen.

Three releases in one week
  • 0.3.0 (15 October 2026): automatic updates, and settings for Final Fantasy XIII.
  • 0.4.0 (16 October): in-game videos and audio decoding, and the first runtime kit announced as stable.
  • 0.5.0 (19 October): Direct3D 12, thanks to vkd3d-proton. The project cites Cyberpunk 2077, Ghosts ’n Goblins Resurrection and Deep Rock Galactic. Also added: sign-in with username and password, a setting for slow downloads and the list of installed games.
Rendering goes through DXVK for Direct3D 8 to 11, vkd3d-proton for Direct3D 12 and Zink for OpenGL. Games install on the console or on an exFAT USB drive. The project publishes no performance figures.

What you need
  • A jailbroken PS5: Playden is tested on 13.60; other firmwares are not blocked but remain untested.
  • kstuff (without it, no game starts), ShadowMountPlus, the ELF loader on port 9021 and an FTP server.
  • A computer with Python 3 on the same network, to copy the app and its kit. Plan for 8 GB free on the console to go from 0.4 to 0.5.

Good to know before trying it

This is alpha software, unaffiliated with Valve. It reads and writes your Steam Cloud saves: a bug could overwrite a good save. The Steam login token is stored unencrypted on the console, readable by anyone who accesses it over FTP; signing out in Playden deletes it. For other PS5 apps, see our selection of PS5 homebrews.
