PSGFX 2.0: custom icons, backgrounds and music on a jailbroken PS5
2026 update: the same author releases Recomp Store, a store that installs native ports on jailbroken PS5; the full story is in our news story Recomp Store: a store of native ports for jailbroken PS5.
PSGFX 2.0 customises the home screen of a jailbroken PS5 from Windows: icons, backgrounds, music, names, order and tile display.
What PSGFX does
PSGFX, by elripalda, is Windows software that changes the look of games and homebrew installed on a jailbroken PS5: icon, background image, music and name displayed on screen. Released as version 1.0 on 30 September 2026, it moved to 2.0 on 11 October. It connects to the console through the PS5 Upload app (version 6.0 or later), which must be open and paired.
What’s new in 2.0
Tidying up the home screen
Since 1.1, PSGFX can also hide tiles, including PlayStation Store and PS Plus, move an app between the Games and Media tabs, and rename, sort and lock the order of games. Presets reapply a layout after an update, and the home screen is backed up before each change.
Known issue: after a full console restart, some layout changes may be undone. Images and music are not affected.
To prepare the console, follow our PS5 jailbreak tutorial, then our selection of PS5 homebrew.

What’s new in 2.0
- A redesigned interface, with separate tabs for the icon, background, music and name, and a search in the game list.
- A guided three-step connection; the PS5’s IP address is remembered.
- A shared icon library: apply another player’s icon in one click, or publish your own. Reported icons are hidden pending review.
- Since 1.3: home screen music per game, from an MP3, WAV or FLAC file, automatically converted to the PS5’s format (ATRAC9).
