PS5SX2 2.02 and 5S2CD: your PS2 discs on PS5, even on the Digital Edition

Insert a PS2 disc into a jailbroken PS5 and play: that is possible with PS5SX2 2.02, and 5S2CD adds a USB DVD drive for the Digital Edition.
PS5SX2 2.02: visible disc copying, and screen filters
Sword’s PS2 emulator for the jailbroken PS5 keeps the releases coming: version 2.00 on 8 October, version 2.01 on the morning of the 10th, and version 2.02 that same evening. Disc playback, which arrived in beta with 2.01, works like this: the inserted disc is first copied to the console, then the game starts; removing the disc takes you back to the library. So it is not true backward compatibility, but the result is the same for the player.
5S2CD: for the Digital Edition, with a USB drive
5S2CD (version 1.1), released by The7mirrors, is a variant of PS5SX2 that reads PS2 discs directly, from the PS5’s own drive or from a USB DVD drive. That last point changes everything for the PS5 Digital, which has no drive, and for PS2 games on CD (the ones with a blue underside), which the PS5 drive cannot read. Each inserted disc can get its own tile on the home screen.
What you need

- Copy progress: the disc being copied shows up in the library with a “Copying NN%” percentage; the game only starts once the copy is finished.
- Screen filters: CRT, Scanlines, VHS and VHS Soft, selectable in the settings or by pressing L3 + R3.
- A God of War II preset: ×6 resolution, 16:9 widescreen and suitable patches.
- Faster startup, black screens fixed with a slow USB drive, and the DualSense freeze in Guitar Hero resolved.
5S2CD: for the Digital Edition, with a USB drive

- You need PS5SX2 already installed and working, ShadowMountPlus, and a payload loader (elfldr) on port 9021. Tested on firmware 13.00.
- The PS5 shows “unsupported disc” when a PS2 disc is inserted: this is normal and harmless.
- After a reboot, run the jailbreak again first: the drive can only be read once the HEN is active.
- Its author says he developed it with the help of an AI.
