TinyWiiBackupManager: four releases in one week for the successor to WBFS Manager
If you are still looking for “WBFS Manager” to fill your Wii's hard drive, you are looking for software from 2009, abandoned since, and which can only handle WBFS partitions — a format no longer recommended today. Its successor, TinyWiiBackupManager, has just put out four releases in one week: 6.1.0 on 28 September, 6.1.1 on the 29th, 6.1.2 on 1 October and 6.1.3 on 5 October 2026.
What changes for you
Three details that save you trouble
And for the rest of the chain
The tool prepares the files; the console is what launches them. The full procedure — d2x cIOS, drive format, USB Loader GX — is in our tutorial Wii: playing your games from a USB hard drive in 2026. For GameCube games, Nintendont is what you need: Nintendont, the successor to DIOS MIOS. And if your console is not hacked yet, start with Hacking your Wii in 2026.
As always: games must come from your own discs.

What changes for you
- Redump verification: the SHA-1 hashes from the Redump database are now built into the program. At a glance, you can tell whether your copy is a clean dump of your disc, or a damaged version that will crash three hours into the game.
- Update partition removal, back and more precise than before. That saves a few hundred megabytes per game, and above all the partition no longer risks reflashing anything.
- Bulk download of cheat codes for the whole library in one go.
- The interface no longer freezes: all disk operations go through a separate thread pool.
- Game folders are named after the English titles, which avoids duplicates when you mix versions.
Three details that save you trouble
- WBFS splitting fixed: 6.1.3 fixes a wrong file extension when splitting. This is precisely the operation everyone needs on FAT32, where a file cannot exceed 4 GB.
- No more UPX compression on the Windows builds: it was setting off Windows Defender. If an older version was flagged as suspicious for you, that was most likely the reason.
- Windows Vista is supported again, as are macOS 10.12 and 10.13. On Mac, since the program is not notarised by Apple, you have to allow it manually after installation.
