Windows announces a patch to improve Bulldozer performance Image unavailable (removed by its host)
Everyone has known since the release of Bulldozer, that its performance is far from what was originally announced.
One of the main causes is that Windows 7 mishandles the two logical cores of each main computing unit, which results in the processor not giving everything it should.
Microsoft then initially released a hotfix, which was quickly removed to make way for a home page that invites you to request technical support.
So we learn that initially Windows 7 is not optimized at all for the new architecture Bulldozer of the manufacturer, where the two cores of the same module share certain resources.
This fix would allow them to be detected and treated the same way as the cores logical hyper-threaded processors Intel, by optimizing the distribution of threads, and by minimizing the number of modules used so that the technology Turbo Core can kick in.
But all this to announce that Windows 8 will be optimized for Bulldozer, and that the initial gain compared to Windows 7 is at most 10%.
So we can say that with this fix, the gain should be of the same order.
