Hello,
I just got my first wii!!! Could you tell me if this tutorial applies to a black wii version 4.2E from the factory?
Also, I looked at the wii drive chip database which tells me that: there is a 67% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
# And there is also a 33% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.

Does that mean I should skip the step with Darcop?
Are there other steps to skip?

YOUR WII IS BLACK..... NO IT'S NOT COMPATIBLE DARKCORP don't install it under any circumstances!
otherwise, no other steps skipped! just follow the order...

You've fallen for NEW SUPER MARIO BROS WII,
or you fell for the internet update, your finger slipped and clicked "I agree" to do it...
before Hacking your wii you are now on 4.2E
No panic, Softmod for 4.2E exists by performing simple steps.

HACK WII 4.2

SD Preparation

1- Starting the HACK

Format your card (recommended minimum 1Go) in FAT!
avoid SDHC.
Download the 4.2e pack (write a message to unlock the message)
Complete HACK WII 4.2E v.7 Pack
Hidden message

[align=center]Homebrew Channel Installation[/align]

Now that you have properly prepared your SD
Go to the SD card icon

You'll get this image. Validate with A on the YES proposal.

Validate with "1" on the wii remote.

You'll have 3 choices:
- Homebrew channel installation
- DVDX installation
- BOOTMII installation in BOOT2 as shown in the image or in IOS (in this case the line will be purple)

Install all 3 choices.
Press [continue] => [install the homebrew channel] => [yes,continue] => [continue]
Do the same with DVDX.
And especially Bootmii according to the proposed choice.(boot2 or ios)
Don't forget to create the bootmii files on the SD card.

PS: it's useless to put Bootmii in ios if you installed it in boot2 as in the video.

Important Warning

Now we're going to perform a crucial step, to protect against bad surprises.(brick)
If you're at this step it's because you installed Bootmii in boot2 or in ios.
We're going to do a DUMP (backup) of the Nand together.

What is the NAND??
it's the internal memory of the wii, it contains all the information of your wii,
such as your game saves, VC games (virtual console) and Wiiware ones as well as all the IOS or Cios built into the system.
In a figurative way you could compare the Nand backup to a TIMECAPSULE created at a given moment T.
In case of trouble (brick), we reinject the Nand via bootmii and we find ourselves back at that moment T.
So the saves and other stuff... will be from the moment of THE BACKUP.

For that look at the illustrated tutorial by Xav91
Perform a Dump (backup) of your NAND of the console with Bootmii.

Important information
* Boot2 being impossible to install on the new Wii... (white and black)
* Leave a minimum of 528mb free on the SD card.
* I would recommend a 1go or 2go SD max non-SDHC formatted in FAT to perform the nand dump.
*SD compatible with BOOTMII

The wiimote isn't recognized in the BootMII menu
To navigate the BootMII menu using the front buttons
- Power button to move (to the right)
- Reset button to confirm

or with the Gamecube controller
- directional pad to move
- A to confirm

To start go to this icon with POWER then confirm with RESET.

confirm again on this icon with RESET.

you will arrive at this image.(the background should be green, if it's red you're in Restore mode)

you're now ready to perform the NAND copy.
Press the RESET button.

Copying the NAND to the SD (it's normal to find some Bad blocks)

verifying the NAND.

Check OK, press any button to exit.

Well done you succeeded
make a backup of the NAND file and the Bootmii folder as well as the .key file
Keep these files carefully on your Computer.
It will be used if the WII ever bricks!
I recommend making another backup at the end of the tutorial!
That way you'll have 2 Nands. (before and after Hack!)

The wii must be connected to the internet.

rev 17 is compatible with Neogamma... (well )

* Installation without internet:
Place the file IOS38-64-v3867.wad at the root of your SD
with the arrows of the wii remote set "Wad Installation" then A.
(.wad provided in the hackwii 4.2 pack)
then choose to install it withIOS36
Then confirm with "A", the installation starts... the wii's light turns on and a 'rock' melody plays!

* Installation with internet: choose "internet installation" then confirm with A
the installation starts with a nice blue light on the wii! etc...

at the end you'll get a [SUCCESS] message!
there you go you succeeded
Press any key... to exit.

Warning:
- The D3/D2nothing (new wii drive) makes IOS installation difficult. If your Wiimote freezes during the rev17 installation, it's because either ios15 or ios36 was badly installed. Start over at step 2-A.

- to play games that don't work with Cios 249. (222 and 223)

Use the Cios installer v4 by Hermes
perform the installation with IOS 249

Patch ios70

5- It seems a new problem has appeared with the latest consoles in 4.2,
which prevents the installation of preloader and other priiloader etc...
To fix this and avoid this error we're going to patch ios70
(used by the preloader in 4.2)

A) Get Pimp My Wii v1.32
B) Install it in the apps folder of the SD
SD: apps/pimpmywii/boot.dol (provided in the hackwii pack)

C) Launch PimpMyWii v1.32 from the Homebrew Channel
D) Use the Manual Installation option
E) Accept the network initialization
F) Then follows a list of all the ios with the possible changes to make.
By default, Installation is set to No, so that if you press A,
you move to the next Ios without anything being installed.
G) Skip all the Ios until you reach ios 70, where you'll need to set installation to Yes,
and ES_Identifier to Yes as well, the rest should be set to No.
Then press A.
H) Skip all the other Ios, the installation of the patched ios 70 with the ES_Identifier starts.
When it's done, exit.

*if you already have the preloader you can upgrade to priiloader rev81 fr

To avoid updates by DVD etc..

What's it for?
darkcorp lets you launch backups (burned dvd) of your games directly from the disc channel as if it were an original.
Warning check your wii serial number and run the test to know
if your wii drive is compatible.
*Where is the serial number?

If the drive is GC2-D3 avoid the installation as it could cause reading problems or other issues,
so recent black or white wii forget it!!!
In case of doubt run the TEST HERE

Yes, it's possible to transfer your " games.ISO " directly from the PC to a hard drive
with the software "WBFS Manager", thanks to this free software you can use everything needed to format and transfer your games to H.D.D.
however you'll absolutely need a compatible hard drive
I recommend getting a 2.5 hard drive (self-powered).

To understand how to use WBFS Manager perfectly,
Formatting your hard drive, installing games etc...

(it's rare that wii need it).

I have a problem, my wii doesn't read burned dvds. I ran the tutorial with no problem, but now I'm wondering if I was right to install Darkcorp. For info the serial number is LEH2827xxxxx, and the test tells me: * There is a 50% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
* And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip.
* Lastly, a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2C (v1).

the cursed drive is the GC2-D3.....
personally I wouldn't have tested since your wii must be either black or recent ... SO ...

1- try an original game (check for bugs, freezes )
2- try with a backup of it.... (burned game) if it works you can keep it otherwise you'll have to erase it! cf: Baordeur's tutorial.
3- keep me posted!
