retj, did you test the alt.dol version again after formatting to FAT32 and deleting the cache and so on...???

No I haven't retested in FAT32 with the alt.dol version but I'll test it this evening.

Nintendo has just rolled out a new version labeled 4.2 of the Wii's System Menu.

Among the new features, the IOS used is now 70. The MIOS and the Shop Channel have been updated.

On the other hand, a very unpleasant surprise awaits users of softmodded Wiis (software hack). Indeed, with this update, Nintendo has once again opened hostilities to nearly wipe out the work that allows homebrews or backups to be launched through the already exploited flaws. The official IOSes as well as IOS 222, 223, 249 and 250 used by those from Waninkoko and Hermes are replaced, while the Boot2 used by Bootmii is also updated.

With this 4.2 version, it's no longer possible to:
- Launch modified titles (a check is performed at launch)
- Use the Homebrew Channel
- Use modified Wad Channels
- Use Bootmii
- Use Custom IOS
- Use BannerBomb

The SmashStack and Indiana Pwns exploits still work but no longer let you do anything at all.

It's therefore strongly advised not to update your Wii with this new System Menu version if your console has been modified through an exploit, at least until hackers have found a flaw in this update that would allow homebrews to work again.

Nintendo vient de déployer une nouvelle version estampillée 4.2 du System Menu de sa Wii.

Au menu des nouveautés, l'IOS utilisé est à présent le 70. Le MIOS et la Chaine Boutique sont mis à jour.

Par contre, une très mauvaise surprise attends les utilisateurs de Wii modifiées par softmod (hack logiciel). En effet, Nintendo à, par cette mise à jour, de nouveau ouvert les hostilités pour quasi anéantir les travaux permettant de lancer des homebrews ou des backups à travers les failles déjà exploitées. Les IOS officiels ainsi que les IOS 222,223,249 et 250 utilisés par ceux de Waninkoko et Hermes sont remplacés tandi que le Boot2 utilisé par Bootmi est également mise à jour.

Avec cette version 4.2, il n'est plus possible de:
- Lancer des titres modifiés (un test est effectué lors du lancement)
- Utiliser le Homebrew Channel
- Utiliser les Chaines Wad modifiées
- Utliser Bootmi
- Utiliser des Custom IOS
- Utiliser BannerBomb

Les exploits SmashStack et Indiana Pwns fonctionnent encore mais ne permettent plus de faire quoi que ce soit.

Il est donc fortement déconseillé de mettre à jour votre Wii avec cette nouvelle version du System Menu si votre console est modifiée à partir d'un exploit, du moins tant que les hackeurs n'auront pas trouver une faille dans cette mise à jour permettant de faire refonctionner les homebrews.

it's possible there's a solution to make it work despite this update, that's why I posted this here
So sorry if you think it shouldn't be here, but for me it might help with Wiiflow's development even if someone else takes over later.

If not, well I don't see how that could help with wiiflow's development. Moreover with 4.2, no more cioscorp, no more hbc, no more channel, no more cios so no more way at all to launch wiiflow. It's several problems that will need to be worked around.

Si non, ben je vois pas en quoi ça peu aider au développement de wiiflow. De plus avec la 4.2 plus de cioscorp, plus de hbc, plus chaine, de cios donc plus aucun moins de lancer wiiflow. C'est plusieurs problème qu'il va falloir contourner.

Don't stress about it too much. I did pass on your problem to hibern, my suggestions, the results of the tests you did and finally your discovery that your partition was formatted in FAT16 instead of FAT32... hmmm... here's hibern's answer:

the bug was coming from. I had forgotten that the apploader is loaded at a
fixed address that my heap was cheerfully exceeding because of the initial offset of
my dol.
I have several solutions, I just need to get around to it.

From an error we find a cause and a solution ok I'll stop...

Te casse pas trop la tête. J'ai bien sure transmit à hibern ton problème, mes suggestions, les résultat des tests que tu as fait et finalement ta découverte de ton formatage en FAT16 au lieu de FAT32... hummm... voici la réponse de hibern :

Sinon, grâce à cette discussion, eureka, je sais très probablement d'où
venait le bug. J'avais oublié que l'apploader est chargé à une adresse
fixe que mon tas dépassait allègrement à cause du décalage initial de
mon dol.
J'ai plusieurs solutions, il faut juste que je m'en occupe.

D'une erreur on trouve une cause et une solution bon j'arrête...

I just learned that waninkoko is supposedly preparing firmware 4.2 to counter this update

je viens d apprendre que waninkoko serait en train de preparer le firmware 4.2 pour contrer cette mise a jour

they know how HBC gets erased, just a detection of the titleid (HAXX) by the system menu, and deletion.
So, already, by creating a .wad with a different id for HBC (like H4XX for example), reinstallation becomes possible again (before doing the update of course).

If a wiiflow 1.1 channel were to come out this could help make sure it doesn't get deleted

ils savent comment HBC est effacé , juste un repérage du titleid (HAXX) par le system menu , et effacement.
Donc , déjà , en créant un .wad avec un id différent pour HBC (comme H4XX par exemple) , la réinstallation redevient possible (avant de faire la mise à jour bien sur).

I did quite a lot more testing with the alt.dol version on a FAT32 and in the end I only got 1 black screen on the 1st launch of 1 game. The version that suits me best currently is 1.0D. Thank you very much Oops for your help and also Hibern for his successive fixes.. You're all doing a really excellent job for everyone's enjoyment.

J'ai refais pas mal de test avec la version alt.dol sur une FAT32 et finalement je n'ai eu qu'1 écran noir au 1er lancement d'1 jeux. La version qui me convient le mieux actuellement est la 1.0D. Merci beaucoup Oops pour ton aide et aussi Hibern pour ses correctifs successif.. Vous faites vraiment un excelent boulot pour le plaisir de tous.

hi wii fit plus doesn't launch, code dump when you click on the cover (at the moment of the music) so I can't get into the options! on the other hand it works on gx but takes a long time to boot and green screens several times before that, could someone help me? thanks
