Flash PSP E1004
Automatically translated from French.
Hi everyone,
I hope someone reads this message quickly ^^. I have to leave for a foreign country in a month and I had planned to buy the PSP and flash it, so I don't get bored on the plane. That said the only ones I've seen for sale (at reasonable prices in stores) are the street ones (E1004 I believe), and therefore not compatible with CFWs.
My question is: knowing that I'm a bit "scared" of bricking it, if I use an LCFW and don't mess up during the install, what are the risks of ending up with a dead console?
Since I don't like leaving devices on standby, I saw that I'd have to relaunch the LCFW every time. Does the console risk getting bricked every single time? (basically will I get a stress spike every time I restart it?).
Thank you for your answer!

Salut a tous,

Hello,
It seems to me that installing an LCFW is less risky than with a CFW.
for the LCFW, once the installation is done the risk is over. To relaunch the hack (launcher) there's no risk at all and it takes about 20 seconds.
Regarding the "street" model, the hack works (only in LCFW) to play with your copies or with emulators, it's perfect.

Bonjour,

hi,
Well no. There's less risk with an LCFW because precisely you're not supposed to touch the part of the memory that bricks. The risk of bricking is linked to touching a certain part of the memory on an incompatible console. (edit: I'm repeating myself here
)
Compatible or not with a full flash, if you follow the tutorials properly, it should go very well.
and by the way, you could also look at a used psp (micromania, le bon coin, cash whatever, etc...) of a model compatible with CFW or not. There are other hardware advantages to consider. The psp street has no wifi, no mic, is mono, heavier and bulkier compared to a psp3000 or a psp2000.

salut,
(edit : je me répète là
)

Great, thank you for your answer!
For the older versions I found some on the internet but at pretty crazy prices... So I'll see what I find in stores then. So once I get past the LCFW installation step there's no more risk of bricking even if I have to relaunch it every day because the console turns off.
Thanks anyway, that reassures me a bit

Hi!
So I bought the thing and followed the tutorial to the letter. It seems the flashing worked fine. However, I have
ff8 in eboot.bpb format. I saw on the internet that it had to be put in the folder /PSP/GAME/"name of your choice"/, which I did. But when the LCFW is launched I don't see anything in the GAME/MemoryStick menu (folder apparently empty). However, if I restart the console (so without the LCFW), it does appear (above the launcher for the LCFW).
Any idea what to look into?
Thanks everyone

Salut !

Problem solved! Actually it was the Game Categories plugin causing the problem (so the file must not have had the right extension). So by disabling it, hop, everything works again!
Thanks everyone!
Thanks everyone!
