Playden 0.9: The Witcher 3 and Steam games on PS5

By Tgames · · 2 min read

Playden 0.9 runs more Direct3D 12 Steam games on jailbroken PS5, including The Witcher 3, and the 0.10 beta lets you play with four controllers.

Playden moves fast

A month after version 0.5, Playden for PS5, by leolobato, moved to 0.9.0 on 2 November 2026, followed the same evening by 0.10.0-beta.1. The homebrew downloads and launches your Steam games for Windows on a jailbroken PS5, thanks to prospero-win, a port of Wine for the console.

What's new in 0.9.0
  • more games using Direct3D 12 start, including The Witcher 3 (next-gen edition), and Unreal Engine 5 games now use Direct3D 12 by default;
  • the DLC you own is downloaded with the game, and updates only fetch the files that have changed;
  • a choice of language and game version, including Steam's public beta branches;
  • new frame generation (up to four times the rendered frames) for DXVK, OpenGL and Vulkan games;
  • the 0.17 kit brings rumble, the PS5 keyboard in games and USB mouse wheel support;
  • PhysX for older games that require it, and installed game management (move, update, uninstall).

The 0.10 beta: four players
  • up to four DualSense controllers, each linked to a PS5 user or a guest: couch co-op and split screen work;
  • an option makes the controller appear as a DualShock 4, to show PlayStation buttons in games that support it;
  • games that require their launcher can now start through it.
The beta is enabled in Settings, Updates. Allow 8 GB of free space for the update.

What you need, and a word of caution

You need a jailbroken PS5, tested by the author on firmware 13.60, and kstuff loaded: without it, no game starts. The rest of the setup is covered in our PS5 jailbreak guide. Playden signs in to your real Steam account and reads and writes your Steam Cloud saves. The software is in alpha: read the "Before you use it" section of the repository before using it.
