ARMSX3 1.6 brings the PS3 XMB to Android
ARMSX3 1.6, the RPCS3-based PS3 emulator for Android, recreates the console's XMB, with its.p3t themes, its wave and the music of your games.
The PS3 menu in your pocket
One week after version 1.5, ARMSX3 1.6 came out on 1 November, followed by 1.6.1 on 2 November. Its big new feature is XMB mode: a home screen and an in-game menu modeled on the PS3's. The text, icons, fonts and startup sound come from the PS3 firmware you have installed.
What XMB mode does
And the rest
Resistance: Fall of Man and NHL Legacy no longer crash under Vulkan, games start faster, and an option runs the heaviest RetroArch shaders at reduced resolution. The emulator is free, on GitHub and Google Play. As with RPCS3, you need the PS3 firmware, downloaded from Sony's website, and your own games. To pick the right emulators, see our guide to emulation on Android.

What XMB mode does
- The console's boot sequence, then the wave in the color of the month, which darkens late in the evening just like on the PS3.
- The PS3 themes (.p3t): static or animated backgrounds, icons and sounds.
- Your games' backgrounds, music and animated icons, in PKG, folder, ISO or CHD format.
- All the emulator's settings as XMB lists, with search.
- The Triangle menu on each game, the Photo and Music columns, RPCN and Discord friends.
- The in-game menu: resume, swap discs, save states and settings.
- (1.6.1) PS3-style notifications and support for a second screen, such as the AYN Thor's.
