Switch 2: the first games dumped thanks to the ns2jb jailbreak

By Tgames · · 2 min read

Two days after ns2jb, the first Switch 2 game files are leaving the console: Deltarune, Mario Kart World and a beta of The Duskbloods.

What has been circulating since 24 October

On the morning of 24 October 2026, two X accounts relayed the first Switch 2 game dumps, made possible by ns2jb, pepsipu's jailbreak:
  • Deltarune: at 7:39 a.m. (Paris time), NERS posted screenshots from the “Underminers” Discord server, dedicated to the game. A member, Hexa, explains there that they got the exploit working and extracted the romfs, that is, the game's files: they have the data for chapters 1 to 4 of the Switch 2 version, and chapter 5 is still resisting. The Switch 2-specific objects are edited copies of existing ones, recognisable by their “_oz” suffix, including minigames played with the Joy-Con 2 mouse;
  • Mario Kart World and The Duskbloods: at 8:12 a.m., the CentroLeaks account claimed that “the first Nintendo Switch 2 ROMs are in the process of being dumped”, with two images: a romfs folder tree presented as that of a beta of The Duskbloods, FromSoftware's Switch 2 exclusive, and a 3D model of Peach extracted from Mario Kart World.
These claims come from screenshots and messages from a Discord server: we have not been able to verify them at the source. The same day, developer Izmysh also showed Doom running on Switch 2 “their own way”, without saying more.

How this is possible

ns2jb gives more than access to SmileBASIC's sandbox. In his write-up, pepsipu explains that after corrupting the memory of the fs system module, the one that handles every file on the console, he gave his process “ FullPermission ”: the right to perform any operation on the file system. That is how he copied the internal storage and the system modules' code to study them. Reading the files of an installed game falls under the same permission. We detail this flaw in our step-by-step explainer.

What this changes, and what it doesn't
  • for modders and translators, it's a beginning: without a game's files, you can't modify it. The Deltarune data is already circulating on that server, as patches;
  • for piracy, nothing changes at this stage: there is no custom firmware for the Switch 2, and ns2jb cannot launch a copied game. The jailbreak remains tethered, wiped at every reboot;
  • extracting the files of your own game is for backups, research and modding; sharing them means sharing the game. We give no links.
If the scene interests you, stay on firmware 23.0.1: SmileBASIC 4, ns2jb's entry point, is no longer on sale on the US eShop. The console's first tools, a launcher and an FTP server, are covered in our HBLauncher news story.
