Atmosphère 1.12.1: themes, DNS and sysmodules fixed on firmware 23

By Tgames · · 1 min read

Atmosphère 1.12.1 fixes what Switch firmware 23.0 had broken: custom themes, DNS redirection and system module memory.

A bugfix update

Released on October 16, 2026, version 1.12.1 of the custom firmware by SciresM and hexkyz follows up on 1.12.0, the first to boot on firmware 23. It repairs several features that had stopped working since then.

What is fixed
  • Custom themes: 23.0.0 reads some files through a new type of read (“BatchRead”). fs.mitm now handles it, and HOME menu themes display again.
  • DNS redirection: 23.0.0 switched to a different DNS resolver, and dns.mitm redirections (those that block Nintendo's servers, for example) were silently ignored. This is fixed.
  • Sysmodule memory: 1.12.0 only granted 16 MB to custom system modules (sys-clk, MissionControl, overlays…). 1.12.1 reworks the way the browser's memory is freed and restores the 40 MB they usually get.
  • Automatic PRODINFO backup (the console's unique data) works on recent consoles.
  • Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter launches correctly.

Updating safely
  • Also update fusee: the old fusee-primary has been removed and no longer works.
  • The archive includes hbmenu 3.6.1 and the hbl 2.4.5 loader. Some homebrew will need to be recompiled with libnx 4.10.0 or newer to work.
  • The step-by-step method, with Hekate, is in our update tutorial.
Remember to update your sysmodules afterwards: MissionControl 0.16.0 supports firmware 23. The list of must-haves is in our selection of the best Switch homebrew.
