PS5 emulator on PC: where SharpEmu and KytyPS5 stand (and beware of scams)

2026 update: AnyPS5, which converts PS5 games into PC programs, has reached a milestone; read more in our news AnyPS5: the tool that ports PS5 games to PC translates 100% of shaders.

Demon’s Souls and Astro Bot boot on PC: the PS5 emulators SharpEmu and KytyPS5 are making progress, but no game is playable from start to finish yet.

SharpEmu 0.0.5 “nexus”

SharpEmu, an open-source emulator written in C#, was released as 0.0.5-nexus on 3 October 2026, followed by a revision on 8 October:
  • fixes for Demon’s Souls, Astro Bot, GTA V, Little Nightmares and Gran Turismo 7;
  • HDR, and internal resolution settings (since the 8 October revision);
  • Astro’s Playroom shaders, fixes for Unity games, and numerous graphics optimisations;
  • a macOS version (via Rosetta).

KytyPS5

KytyPS5 publishes several builds a day, now with automatic updates. In September, it got Demon’s Souls past the character creation screen, at around one fps; testers have since reported higher figures, which cannot be verified for now.

The takeaway
  • These are research projects: games boot, none can be played all the way through. You need a high-end PC.
  • Games must come from your own jailbroken PS5: no emulator provides games.
  • Beware of scams: searches for “PS5 emulator PC” are flooded with fake sites asking for payment, “verification” or a survey. SharpEmu has even added a warning against fake sites and fake donation appeals. Only download from the official GitHub repositories, listed below.
