Compatibility between DS and DSi

My DS just broke down (issue with the charging port on the DS )

If I buy a new console like a DSi, I'd like to know if there's compatibility between:

the linkers
and especially the games. Otherwise that would mean I'd have to start everything over

Or a simpler question, which console is compatible with a DS because at first glance, there aren't any left for sale....

if you told us which linker you have. Normally almost all of them are dsi compatible.

knowing also that some firmwares and menus can be modified

no, the m3 ds real isn't compatible with dsi or 3ds. but for the same linker quality I'd advise you to get an M3i zero in the blue box (not the red one... fake)
