Diablo 3

During a conference on Activision's financial results, Michael Morhaime who runs Blizzard indicated that the open beta of Diablo III would be available within three months. Enough to get all the franchise's fans excited as they impatiently await this new installment.

Diablo III internal testing on the game indeed started last week, and it's therefore during the third quarter that players will be able to take part.

While Morhaime indicated that his teams are working hard to release the game before the end of the year, he specified that this won't necessarily be the case, as no launch window has been set for now.

One thing remains certain: this year's BlizzCon, taking place on October 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center, will definitely be under the colors of Diablo III... which will need to not disappoint.

Durant une conférence sur les résultats financiers d'Activision, Michael Morhaime qui gère Blizzard, a indiqué que la bêta ouverte de Diablo III serait disponible d'ici trois mois. De quoi faire vibrer tous les fans de la franchise qui attendent ce nouvel opus avec impatience.

Diablo IIILes tests internes sur le jeu ont en effet commencé la semaine dernière, et c'est donc durant le troisième trimestre que des joueurs pourront y participer.

Si Morhaime a indiqué que ses équipes travaillent d'arrache-pied pour sortir le jeu avant la fin de l'année, il a précisé que ce ne sera pas forcément le cas, aucune période de lancement n'ayant été définie pour le moment.

Une chose reste sûre : la BlizzCon de cette année, qui se déroulera les 21 et 22 octobre prochain au Convention Center d'Anaheim, sera définitivement sous les couleurs de Diablo III... qui se devra de ne pas décevoir.

Minimum configuration

An Internet connection,
a DVD-ROM drive,
and a 1,024 x 768 screen (goodbye netbooks...) are required.
For the hard drive, 12 GB of disk space is a minimum.
The rest depends on the platform: 1 GB of RAM on Windows XP,
1.5 GB of RAM on Windows Vista or 7
and 2 GB of RAM on Mac OS X.
The processor with two cores is the minimum:
Pentium D at 2.8 GHz or Athlon 64 X2 4400+ to hope to play,
a Core 2 Duo on Apple machines (Core Duo and Core Solo are excluded).
For the graphics card, the minimum is a GeForce 7800 GT (high end of that generation) or a Radeon X1950 Pro from ATi.

Recommended configuration

If you really want to enjoy the game, Blizzard recommends
a Core 2 Duo at 2.4 GHz or an Athlon 64 X2 5800+, which isn't excessive in 2011 (these are chips dating back 5 years).
2 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 260 or a Radeon HD 4870 would also be good choices according to the company, fairly common cards.
For Mac, Blizzard asks for a Radeon HD 4670 or a GeForce GT 330M, which is paradoxical: Mac games generally need more power for the same quality...
