Kmeaw: No need for Geohot CFW, that's why I chose this one. So you don't need to sign things like Geohot's CFW. I will therefore give you the procedure in writing and video

CFW Kmeaw: OFW 3.55 patched with Kmeaw which gives us a Kmeaw CFW 3.55. You will easily find this CFW by searching a little

If you are in CFW Waninkoko: OFW 3.55 by recovery mode > CFW Kmeaw 3.55 by recovery mode > LV2.pkg

If you are in CFW Wutangrza: OFW 3.55 by recovery mode > CFW Kmeaw by recovery mode > LV2.pkg

If you are on OFW 3.55 : CFW Kmeaw by recovery mode > LV2.pkg

If you are on OFM 3.41 : OFW 3.55 on xmb by USB key fat32 containing the official 3.55 update PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP > CFW Kmeaw in recovery mode > LV2.pkg. Do not directly install CFW Kmeaw from the official 3.41, do the official 3.55 update first!!!

If you are on CFW Kmeaw: Install the LV2.pkg package ( Obsolete since the arrival of 3.55 backup managers including the LV2 patch )

You have completed the step that corresponds to your current FW and well done and enjoy!!!!!

You need:
-a PS3 up to fw 3.55, all models work!! No console bricks have been reported with this Kmeaw CFW

-An OFW 3.55 if you are in: OFW 3.41, CFW 3.55 geohot, CFW 3.55 Wutangrza

-The Kmeaw LV2.pkg file that will need to be installed with the "install package file" option from your PS3's xmb and launched at each console restart before launching your backup manager. ( Obsolete since the integration of this LV2 patch into new 3.55 backup managers )
-fix permissions 3.55 CFW (obsolete)
-multiman 1.13.00 3.55 CFW Kmeaw, gaia v2.02 3.55
There, you must use a bm 3.55, I recommend multiman (personal choice

)

how to proceed:

before anything check that you can have access to recovery mode (manipulation described below)
-it's very simple, first you need to check the fw of your ps3, to do this go to:
system settings/system info/fw of your ps3, if you are on official Sony 3.55 you can directly proceed to the step of installing cfw 3.55 KMEAW via the "recovery" mode

-if you are below official fw 3.55 (3.50, 3.42, 3.41 etc..) you must update your console with official Sony fw 3.55 via a USB key formatted in fat32. On this key you will create a folder named PS3 (respect the uppercase letters well), open your PS3 folder that you just created and again you will create a folder UPDATE inside, then open your UPDATE folder and copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP file which corresponds to official fw 3.55 Sony.

-are we ready??? then let's go, insert your USB key containing your official fw 3.55 and go to "system update" then choose "update via storage media", follow the instructions.
once finished, your ps3 is now on official 3.55.

-let's now move on to installing CFW KMEAW 3.55, to do this you must replace (so delete) the PS3UPDAT.PUP file (official 3.55) that you copied on your key with the one from cfw 3.55 kmeaw, the difference is in the installation of the update because we will use the console's recovery mode, for information this is a function that allows you to perform different operations on your ps3 in case of problems. The one that interests us is number 6 (update).

recovery mode:
console in standby (red light on), press the on/off touch button on your ps3 without releasing, your console turns on then makes a beep and turns off, you can release. Press the on/off touch button again without releasing until you hear 2 beeps in a row, there release, welcome to "recovery" mode.

-plug your PS3 controller with a USB cable, insert your USB key into a port and select option no. 6 update, all that's left is to follow the on-screen instructions.

there your KMEAW cfw is installed, all you have to do left is install the managers that will allow you to launch your game backups.

-installation of backup managers:
-download the pkg file corresponding to your manager
-gaia manager:

-copy the pkg file corresponding to the manager chosen at the root of your USB key formatted in fat32
-insert your USB key into a port of your ps3 and go to "Install package file" which is in the game menu of your PS3's xmb (menu), select the pkg file and install it. There your manager appears in your game menu on your PS3's xmb.

Update: LV2.pkg v2 available, allows the use of hermes payload which doesn't work with V1.

Update: gaia manager V2.04, multiman 1.13.04 includes the LV2 patch, you no longer need to launch the LV2.pkg application at each console restart

IT'S OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!it's fine update installed correctly

, I need to install v2 of the lv2.pkg.

the little things noticed with gaia, games show up in the backup manager only in direct boot mode, need more tests with multiman etc...but I think it's the lv2.pkg v1 that doesn't work with hermes, v2 fixes this problem and since my games were copied in pl4....so I'll post the video online as soon as it's on youtube....

update: Gaia Manager V2.01 has now been integrated with Kmeaw's lv2 patcher to run backups.

"V2.01 (3.55 CFW only) Features:
It no longer tries to load the syscall every time you start Gaia Manager, but only the first time. which should fix a few crashes when reopening Gaia Manager. It's reported that if the PS3 sometimes freezes you'll need to do a hard power off/on (unplug the cable and plug it back in)."

Honestly, between us Salahpayne and Arnauto, I'd rather wait for a more stable CFW than this. Something finished and not half-finished, too scared of bricking my PS3. Otherwise, I'm happy for you Arnauto

arnauto did this to test it and give us a tutorial, there's little chance he'll stay on this version, unless it's stable and works without bugs, so wait for his feedback to be sure

from what I've read it seems pretty stable and there's very little risk of bricking your console (although zero risk doesn't exist) we won't get better in terms of OFW patch, after that it'll be all the homebrews that do the rest of the work, the hardest part is done in this CFW, I'm waiting tonight to see with arnauto but I'm probably going to jump in tonight, so far no brick reported, that's already a good sign.

,gaia v2.02 3.55 works perfectly, no more need to launch lv2.pkg. you just need to replace the eboot.bin of the 3.55 games you modified with the originals, I'm not talking about the sfo or the fix because that doesn't matter, only the eboot.bin

.the L1 "no disc" function is also on this new gaia, you need to activate it if you don't want to use a bd in the drive (at least for games that don't need it) otherwise your game on hdd won't appear in apps/home/

KMEAW CUSTOM FIRMWARE TUTORIAL

Given all the modified systems (CFW) out there, here is the installation order to install the latest and most stable one, the KMEAW CFW.

FILES you need a ps3, all models work,
No console bricks have been reported to date with this KMEAW update.
Before starting you'll need to get some files *google is your FRIEND:

- The Official Firmware 3.55
MD5: in progress....

- The KMEAW Firmware
MD5: 2be5e87a22bf1e7f48e98fcabd38977b
WARNING
Do not install the KMEAW CFW directly from official 3.41, do it BEFORE the official 3.55 update!!!

- The LV2.pkg file
MD5: in progress....

A file's MD5 checksum is its unique code,
if the checksum (signature) of the file is not exactly the same do not install it!

External content (video or audio) hidden: it sets its own cookies.
Installation order:

New installation from an Official Sony system < 3.55:

Spoiler

On a USB drive formatted in FAT32
place the PS3UPDAT.PUP file (official sony 3.55 update) like so:
PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
Plug it into the ps3 then go to system update
then Storage Media...
Confirm with "X"
next, then "X" again wait... your console is updating... to the official 3.55 system.

once that's done,
rename the PS3CFW.PUP file (KMEAW update file) to PS3UPDAT.PUP
create the folder structure like so:
PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
then...

Turn off the console and put it into "recovery mode"
*To do this hold down the PS3's POWER button until it shuts off,
once the console is off, turn it back on while holding the power button, a beep sounds,
keep going until you hear two beeps.... at that point release...
you're now in RECOVERY MODE.

Connect your wireless controller to the PS3 so it's recognized and scroll down to:

the update starts...
next, then "X" again wait... your console is updating... to the 3.55 KMEAW system.

Congratulations, you're on 3.55 KMEAW,
to check this you should have one extra folder,

Remove the USB drive, format it in FAT32 again...
then place the LV2.pkg file at its root.
Place your USB drive on the PS3 then go to *INSTALL PACKAGE FILES,
confirm with "X" then "X" again, there you go you've just installed the LV2 patch.
