IOS 58 Installer does one thing, and one thing only
- download and install IOS 58 from Nintendo's update servers.
This process doesn't involve any critical parts of the system, and is completely safe.
IOS 58 is required for USB 2.0 support in homebrew applications and is the IOS used by default by HBC 1.0.7+.
It is included in System Menu 4.3, but those who don't wish to update to 4.3 just need to run this installer to get the benefits of IOS 58.

for once I think I understand what barman is saying ^^
if you have ios58 via pimp and hbc stacks on top of it (or the other way around chronologically) hbc ends up inverted, hence the installer that installs a clean ios58 (without the exploit)

obviously that sums it all up

Pimp had also installed the 80 for me, I'll run it to see if it patches them!
@mamule PimpMyWii patches trucha on IOS8 so that's no good.
For IOS80, pimp patched ES-Identify and trucha.
Is that not a problem or do we need to reinstall it too?
Reading your posts I have a few questions.
Do you still have inverted hbc problems on version 1.0.7?
Because I have version 1.0.7 of HBC, this one uses IOS61, my IOS61 is patched and my HBC 1.0.7 has never been inverted
As for the main topic, meaning IOS58, I also have a few questions.
What's the point of releasing this installer when it's just as easy to install with Pimp My Wii in manual mode (so as not to patch it) or as a .wad via NUS Downloader?
Personally I didn't get it because I don't see the point of having an extra installer on my SD when Pimp my Wii can do that job.
If it's the IOS used by the future HBC I would better understand the reason for making this installer, otherwise I don't see much particular point except maybe for those who want to have the IOS 4.3 on 4.2.

Inverted HBC, I don't know about it on my console.
On the other hand, I don't have any patch on IOS61. Pimp leaves it untouched, on top of that!!
The installer saves you from going through software like Pimp just for one IOS!!
It's indeed the IOS for the next HBC!
Also, no more need for the 202 because it brings a gain at the USB2 level.

I ran pimp my wii 2.01 and it detected a bunch of old IOS for me.
For the 58, I let it be installed by pimp. I'll reinstall it if needed.
