cdifan has released a new version of his emulator "CDI Emulator" 0.5.3 in Beta 8 (will expire on 2026/01/01)
List of changes:
Code: Select all
The following changes have been made between the version 0.5.3-beta7 and
this version 0.5.3-beta8 release:
- The built-in expiration date has been updated to 2026/01/01.
- It is possible to enable the SLAVE mute/unmute commands issued by
the CDIC drivers of the JNMS, Mini-MMC, Maxi-MMC and Mono-I player
generations. This will cause "no audio" issues is various titles,
esp. Tetris and Lemmings. Enable this by adding the "muteaudio" keyword
to the cdic.dev lines in the various *.brd files or set the variable
directly with the -set cdic.muteaudio command line option.
No other changes have been made. Saving the contents of the CD-i NVRAM
to a file is still supported.
Here is my patched version of his emulator:
Code: Select all
CDI Emulator 0.5.3 Beta 8 "Patched Full Version V1.0"
Notes :
- Working limit to 2026/01/01 removed.
- 3 minutes limit removed.
Tested and works with all compatible Philips CDI Bios.
Warning : My patch render the "debug mode" inoperent in the emulator.
Please post your feedbacks or bugs in this topic (in compare with the original version)

Here is the patch that unbriddles
completely the emulator of its blockages.
It has 2 blockages by default in the emulator which are now removed:
- The nag screen after 3 mins of use
- A blockage of the emulator after a certain date
Now there are many places where this is checked during emulation. You can really see the desire to prevent the emulator from being hacked.
To save time (and I thank shu for giving me the lead), I modified certain routines to make the emulator believe it finds a "CCdiClock Mono-I".
I make it believe every frame (which is not optimal I agree). This completely breaks the debug mode.
But for a regular user, it doesn't interfere at all with using it to just play their games.
Patch Version 1.0 for 0.5.3 Beta 8:
Sincerely.

Cordialement.
