Choice of a linker and the website to buy it from

Good evening everyone!

I'm a total Noob who hasn't had any contact with Nintendo since the GBA SP but I intend to catch up by buying a 3DS XL.

In your opinion, should I wait until I have the thing in hand before buying a linker?
Otherwise, in your opinion which is the best one out of all of them knowing I don't have another DS on hand to reflash the firmware and that I probably won't be using the shop or online or too many recent 3DS games?
And a side question: do you have a reliable site to recommend for the purchase?

If I understood correctly, there's only one 3DS linker for now and it's not that simple, right? I read that the saves don't work very well, that you need a microSD per game and that it's a bit expensive, is that right?
In the meantime while waiting for something simpler, I'll settle for a DS linker, which is already great given the accessible game library!

Si j'ai bien compris, il n'y a qu'un linker 3DS pour le moment et il est pas tout simple, non ? J'ai lu que les sauvegardes ne fonctionnaient pas très bien, qu'il fallait une micro SD par jeu et que ça coûte un peu cher, c'est bien ça ?
En attendant un truc plus simple, je me contenterai d'un linker DS, ce qui est déjà super vu la logithèque accessible !

The gateway is the only one for now. It costs about the price of a bit less than 2 games. There are only 1 or 2 games that cause a problem.

As for choosing a DS linker. You need a recent-generation one with the RTS label

Le gateway est le seul pour l'instant. C'est le prix d'un peu moins que 2 jeux. Il y a seulement 1 ou 2 jeux qui pose problème.

Thanks for your help, I read your answer in this post and I think my 3DS XL is likely to have a firmware higher than 4.5...

The problem is the forum rules forbid giving out sites because selling linkers is illegal in France.

There are several r4iwhatever they're all more or less equivalent. Only the dstwo offers a few extra features but it's also 2 to 3 times more expensive.

Le problème est que le règlement du forum interdit de donner des sites car la vente de linker est interdit en France.

Il y a plusieurs r4ijesaispasquoi ils sont tous plus ou moins équivalent. Seul le dstwo offre quelques fonctions supplémentaire mais il est aussi 2 à 3 fois plus chère.

I notice this type of topic is always just as toxic, I just banned another nice reseller.
It's not so much the forum rules as the law that forbids sharing information about ways to get linkers.
You are however allowed to do it through private correspondence (e.g. by PM).

Je constate que ce type de sujet est toujours aussi toxique, j'ai encore banni un gentil revendeur.
Ce n'est pas tant le règlement du forum que la loi qui interdit de transmettre des informations sur les moyens d'acquisition des linkers.
Il ne vous est pas en revanche interdit de le faire par le biais d'une correspondance privée (ex. par MP).

I'd be curious to see the difference in compatibility and performance between dstwo and emulation for nes and gba games. Shame there's no snes
