I just bought a used wii which was purchased, according to the receipt, in late december 2009
The first thing I wanted to do was crack it The console's firmware is 4.1E
Then, I followed the tutorial <<HACK Wii 3.0E to 4.1E>>
I installed the HBC then BootMii and the IOS236 Installer.
Then I stopped there because I realized that on 4.1E, recent games aren't compatible
So here's my problem: How can I go to 4.3E in the current state.
Thanks for your answers
Bonjour a tous
personally I prefer 4.3. connect your wii to the net, go into options. Do the official update (you have to insist... it bugs sometimes. Error I don't remember what )
You'll be left with hbc. Resume the 4.3 tutorial from there. You can launch hackmii installer with hbc for bootmii. Sd:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf
Sd:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf

I already installed BootMii and the IOS236 Installer, will that have any impact on the console

Thanks for your reply Oops, last questions before doing the update to 4.3E
After installing BootMii the first time, I did a NAND Dump in case of brick.
I saved the two files (keys and nand) and the bootmii folder, but now that I'm going to reinstall it,
do I need to redo this process or is it not worth it since the files will be the same.
you need to reinstall bootmii but no need to redo the nand dump. Keep the nand and key files on your pc, not on the sd nor on the wii's hdd.

mamule wrote:IOS236 will remain too my dear Oops
Do I also need to reinstall it or can I skip that step?
If mamule says so it's surely true

Alright, I burned them onto a Verbatim DVD-R and set it aside.
To sum up, I need to update the console to 4.3E then launch the HBC where I install BootMii
Then, I continue by installing davebaol's d2x cIOS and cIOS Hermes v4.

I don't have time to do it today, I'll do it tomorrow but one last thing.
During the update, does the SD card need to be inserted in the console or not?
The update was a success As you mentioned Oops, I'm left with the HBC.
However, I don't know what to put next on my SD card. Originally, I had
put the tutorial's archive <<HACK Wii 3.0E to 4.1E>>. Here's what I have on my SD card:
Now that my console is on 4.3E, should I format my SD card and put the 4.3E tutorial's archive?
In the 4.3E tutorial's archive, there's apps with cIOS Hermes v4, IOS236, Wad Manager 1.7 and a boot.elf file inside.
SD:\boot.elf
SD:\private\wii\..\content.bin
SD:\installer (Document texte)
mamule wrote:And as I mentioned you should still have the IOS 236
Yes indeed the IOS 236 stayed, Thanks for the help
mamule wrote:So you take your boot.elf (at the root), you put it in a /bootmii folder
However, I'm a bit lost because there are 2 boot.elf files , one is at the root and the other in the bootmii folder.
Should I delete the one in the BootMii folder and put the root's boot.elf (SD:\boot.elf).
mamule wrote:Question: is your HBC indeed on IOS58?
No it's running on IOS61, so I need to reinstall it.
I'm back, I reinstalled the HBC, now it's running on IOS58 then reinstalled BootMii as Ios (boot2 doesn't exist)
However, it asks me to do a HBC update, I accepted so it goes from 1.0.8 to 1.1.0.
Everything's fine, the update goes through successfully then automatically launches the HBC and it's on version 1.1.
However, when I do exit to quit, I go back to the channel selection and the update wasn't taken into account, it asks me again for an update to 1.1.0.
Here's a new problem
There's no problem, during the update, hackmii installer will launch automatically and you just need to do "install the homebrew channel" for it to be updated (and not do exit right away like you were doing)

The update was done, Thanks for your help gabry51
