Here's a rumor relayed by the XboxYgen.com site concerning the future XBOX
A new rumor that could make more than one person drool is circulating right now on the web concerning Microsoft's next console.
It all started yesterday with the publication of a statement on the Fudzilla and SemiAccurate blogs reporting on the progress of the future Xbox, its content as well as its possible release period.
According to the report, the console's CPU, codenamed Oban, will be modeled on "ATI Southern Island GPUs or on the modified 7000 series". Still according to the report, "production of it reportedly began last December".
Following this report, IGN apparently obtained some clarifications from "a source close to the project". According to this source and the site, "the console's CPU would not be based on the GPUs indicated by the report, but would be a derivative of the 6000 series and more specifically the Radeon HD 6670. In other words, the power of Microsoft's next machine would be six times more powerful than its predecessor and twenty percent more powerful than the Wii U."
Another confirmation regarding the production period, which would indeed be late 2012. According to IGN, developers, for their part, should probably receive the first development kits in August of this year.
So there you have plenty to fuel the rumors going around the web and the most fervent speculators. That said, there's plenty to dream about!
