I was wondering what operating system is used by the forum members?
Personally, I have 2 computers, my PC running Ubuntu (Linux) and the family PC with dual boot Vista/Ubuntu.
I was wondering because I thought about making a post on Linux software for Wii. But if there are only 2 or 3 members on this OS, I don't see the point in doing it.
And while I'm at it, I'll take the opportunity to do some promotion for my post on Demos (link in signature) and feel free to leave a comment
Thank you for your answers.
At one point I tried madriva linux (2005 I think) and I found it super painful to handle (at least 4h to manage to install a video player and extract an archive ).
If it's some kind of tuto or explanations about handling linux I'm interested
Linux distros have really changed, they're getting closer and closer to the general public. Me too, Natho18, I tried Linux without success in 2006. A real hassle and then I got back into it, successfully, in 2008 after getting fed up with windows.
No I wasn't planning on making tutos about handling Linux, just doing a check-list of Linux applications for the Wii, like WiiTCPLoad or an ELF<->DOL converter.
This post is also open to Mac
So many answers today. Especially today, the release day of Ubuntu 9.04. For those who want to try it, nothing easier thanks to the LiveCD. https://www.ubuntu-fr.org/
By the way I managed to connect the Wiimote to Ubuntu and thus use it as a mouse or a controller. Imagine Google Earth piloted with the Wiimote...
If people are interested, I can make a demo video.
Because my pc will never see vista, me it's xp home sp2.
a little format once a year and that's it!!!
seriously xp is more flexible and manageable than vista, well for me.
chokkola wrote:one extra thing I also use my Wiimote under vista and it's awesome ^^
me for my partitions and formatting I use the Ubuntu live cd
You can also use the wiimote under Ubuntu, I already talked about it on the forum, but I don't remember where
For the partitions, use the GParted Live CD or Live USB instead of Ubuntu's. --> HERE <---
--> ICI <---
anyway ubuntu uses Gparted so it amounts to the same thing and at the same time I can go on the net while it formats or partitions,
yes you already talked about the wiimote under Linux but not under vista so I'm clarifying for the fans of the genre!
anyway apart from mac I like everything ^^
Me I use Vista, the fastest of all, much faster than XP (personally)
I have 1HDD with XP pro trust 3, another with Vista ultimate SP1 and one last special 7 where right now I'm on 7 RC ^^
