The first version of PCSX was available on August 31, 2000. The original team stopped developing PCSX on September 17, 2003 in order to fully dedicate themselves to their new project: PCSX2 (a PlayStation 2 emulator).
It's the PCSX-df team that took over the project for Linux and, similarly, in 2009, the project stopped.
It's now the PCSX Reloaded team that continues the development. This emulator doesn't need a big setup to run.
For example, a Pentium 3 450 and a 64 mo graphics card are more than enough.
I'll let you imagine the rendering of certain games with the power of today's machines.
Although you can run PCSX without a bios thanks to HLE emulation, it is recommended to have a BIOS to run it.
You'll find the bios thanks to Google, as we are not allowed to distribute this bios which is under Sony copyright.
This emulator also works with plugins and is furthermore fully configurable. Changelog
