Wi-Fi Turbo: PS Vita Wi-Fi with 13 times lower latency

By Tgames · · 1 min read

The Wi-Fi Turbo plugin unlocks the PS Vita's Wi-Fi: 40 MHz channels, higher throughput, 13 times lower latency and automatic reconnection.

2011 Wi-Fi, fixed

Wi-Fi Turbo, by juanjsebgarcia, is a taiHEN plugin for a PS Vita hacked with HENkaku or Ensō. Version 0.1.0 came out on 23 October 2026, followed the same day by 0.2.0-alpha. According to the author, Sony tuned the Vita's Wi-Fi to save battery: the chip sleeps between packets, and the driver only uses half the channel.

What it changes
  • support for 40 MHz channels: the router sees the Vita at 150 Mbps instead of 72;
  • power profiles: Max performance turns off the chip's power save, Battery saver makes it sleep longer;
  • an automatic connection at boot, reconnection in about 3 seconds after a drop, and a heartbeat every 45 seconds so the router does not disconnect an idle Vita;
  • an option that keeps Wi-Fi on with the screen off, for downloads, and an on-screen signal display;
  • a page in Settings > Network, in the console's language.
The author's measurements, on one Vita and one access point: UDP throughput from 43.5 to 65.6 Mbps, TCP from 33.9 to 40.6 Mbps, and median wake-up latency from 99 to 7.4 ms. That last figure is what matters for game streaming and remote connections.

Which firmwares?

The plugin is only tested on 3.60. 0.2.0-alpha adds 3.65 and 3.68, but without testing on a real console: the author is asking for feedback. Do not install it on any other firmware. Keeping Wi-Fi active costs battery; everything can be turned off in the settings. To hack your Vita, see our HENlo and Ensō tutorial.
