ScummVM: Dungeon Master, the 1987 classic, opens for testing

By Tgames · · 1 min read

ScummVM now runs Dungeon Master, FTL Games' 1987 role-playing game. The Amiga and DOS versions are ready to test in the daily builds.

A role-playing landmark

Released in 1987 on the Atari ST, Dungeon Master by FTL Games popularized first-person, real-time dungeon crawling. On 8 October 2026, the ScummVM team declared it ready for public testing.

Supported versions
  • The Amiga 2.0 version, in English.
  • The DOS 3.4 version, US release in English.
The announcement does not mention the original Atari ST version.

How to try it

Support is not in the stable release: you need a daily development build of ScummVM, available from the official website. Then add the folder of your copy of the game, play, and report bugs on ScummVM's issue tracker. The team gives no date for its arrival in a stable release. The latest one, ScummVM 2026.4.0, added Amerzone and Dracula: Resurrection; ScummVM also runs on the Wii, as shown in our tutorial on Wii emulators.
