RPCS3 0.0.43 and shadPS4 0.19: the PS3 and the PS4 are moving fast on PC

By Tgames · · 1 min read

2026 update: RPCS3 also runs on Android, with ARMSX3; read on in our news story ARMSX3 1.1 and ARMSX2 2.8.3: PS3 and PS2 make progress on Android.

Two notable releases in a few days, on the two emulators moving fastest right now.

RPCS3 0.0.43 (PlayStation 3)

Released on 30 September 2026, this version gathers more than 200 changes. The most visible ones: a “Big Picture” mode meant for playing with a controller on a TV, collections to organise your library, better trophy handling, and Blu-ray drive support extended to Linux, macOS and FreeBSD.

One useful note: the developers remind us that their version numbers are arbitrary and that you should always take the latest build of the day from the official site rather than the last “release” on display.

shadPS4 0.19.0 (PlayStation 4)

Released on 2 October 2026 under the name “The Shadoween special”. The project, still young, is moving at a remarkable pace, and the list of playable games grows with every version. It remains available on Windows, Linux and macOS.

And the others
  • Dolphin 2609 (24 September) remains the latest stable version for GameCube and Wii, on PC as on Android.
  • Azahar 2126.1.2 (20 September) for the 3DS: remember that Azahar is now the sole successor to Citra, after the merger of the two projects that had followed it.
  • PCSX2 keeps going, with stable version 2.8.2 rounded out by daily development builds.
  • On Android, the new generation is in place: ARMSX2 2.7.2 for the PS2 and ARMSX3 for the PS3 now publish almost every day.
Our recommended settings are in the tutorial Emulation on PC, and for the phone in our PC and Android tutorials. And as always: BIOS files and games must come from your own machines.
